Brenda, you can use this yarn for hot pads. As long as the yarn contains 85% cotton, it will be fine. I have never had a problem.

What a beautiful pattern! I have a suggestion about attaching the yarn in the space where the tie-off from previous row is. Instead of pulling the end tight,, do the ch2, cut the yarn and pull out the long end, but do not tighten until the next yarn has been pulled through and first stitnes made in that space. It works almost like magic! Working on my second one, and love this pattern!
