We studied a few videos before trying this ourselves. We experimented with light wind and f*d up a few times, but nobody harmed and nothing broken. I´d recommend experimenting with 11 or 12 m² kite with around 16 knots wind the first time. We also used a bucket to roll the lines in in advance instead of letting the lines drift downwind. That appeared to be the safest way.
@FOILUSA

We thought of that as well, but keeping the lines on the bar just made for one less thing to have to deal with.

Really enjoyed the video. Been sailing, surfing, scuba, etc. a long time. Might have already been covered about anchoring, but if at anchor, you need a large enough anchor and enough scope ( line and chain out to the anchor) in order as not to drag an anchor. Scope is measure by your depth × 7 = Scope. (Depth = 10' (feet), therefore Scope = 10' × 7 = 70'). If Moored, then you have a big ass weight on the bottom with a buoy. Note: Buoy lines and gear have been known to break as they are constantly in the water. So if you like living on the edge with loaded lines check all your gear constantly. Good safety advices and walk through. Cheers

Don`t launch from a boat. But it could come in handy. Nicely explained and liked the thing with the floaty in the water! I`ve been picked up by a boat once and if they don`t know how to handle the kite u could be in for trouble. This makes it a one man job! Awesome . Thumbs up!

Nice job... you may confuse people with saying the front of the boat when you have it anchored from the stern. That is a big no no in the ocean.

Nice job guys i can suggest you to connect a safety leash to the carabiner to because in case something happen you can depower the kite without to leave it in the water. Thanks again for the video

hey, it's a very informative video I like it. For the purpose of kiting, would you make any changes to the platform of your boat if you could? The thing is, I got myself two inflatable pontoons (14ft) and now I'm designing the deck. Not sure if I should go for the classic catamaran style, or make overlaying platform on top of the pontoons like in your case. Any piece of advice is much appreciated! Best wishes from eastern Europe

amazing, very clear instructional video! Do you have any experience launching closed-cell foilkites from boats? Such as the ozone chrono or flysurfer speed5 or sonic, maybe you can do another video on that, I imagine it requires a different approach?

Do you do anything to keep other boaters from running over your lines? I have had a ski tow rope run over and my kite lines are more difficult to see. Also, do you every do this alone? NJ bays have biting greenhead flies which often torture anyone staying on the boat.

Hopefully no one is that air headed to drive over your lines.. But that's a good point.

great video and great technique, but i don't think the retrieving procedure is 100% safe in strong winds, when you keep tension in one line and your partner rolls them on the bar if something happens and you let go the line with tension for any reason there will be tension on all four lines and the kite can develop power and uncontrolled loops can happen. The only really safe procedure is to activate the quick release, or attach only the leash of the kite (safety lne) to the boat. This is not very convenient but you don't wanna find yourself near potentially tensioned lines even if they are not attached to you. another way to doit could be to roll only the tensioned line on the bar a few times and then all four together... beyond that good job, i am totally gonna try this ;)
@FOILUSA
@FOILUSA 3 жыл бұрын
Agreed. We found it better to flip the kite on it's leading edge, and pull in with the depower line, or bridle line (Same in most cases)

Ozone I don´t know, but Flusurfer is easier than inflatable kite. Everything is done in the water. The kite inflates while the lines are rolled out. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYS8Z3p9aMutndU

But if you have wind, you can not throw the kite in the water like it is shown in the video. Then it will totally blown over the water, turning, twisting and crashs the hole system ;-)
