Hey, there. Very good and useful video. I have a question: so, my tv is showing washed out colors and artifacts. Sometimes just turning the tv off and then back on would solve this problem, but unfortunately this isn't the case anymore and the tv just keeps showing these weird washed out colors and artifacts. It's more noticeable in hdr content. So, it could be a problem in the motherboard?

While it is possible to do a screen swap on most modern TVs, the price of the replacement screen and the complexity of the repair is usually enough to dissuade most DIY repairmen. If you have the expertise and the tools to do the job properly there are a few resources online where you can get replacement panel components, but unfortunately we do not carry any replacement screens at our business. I haven't been able to reset the system or update the firmware. Every time the TV restarts, it reverts to a certain point-not the initial setup, as it's still logged into the Google account. It restarts randomly, and I'm not sure if it's a hardware or software issue, but I can't update the firmware. Is the Android system of the XBR-65X900F on the mainboard? Could it be that the Android system's hard drive is damaged?

Hey there very helpful, thanks. I'm dealing with a Sony XR-75X90J. Won't turn on and the LED is blinking red three times. Is this a main board issue or power issue as well? It happened during a rain storm so I suspect power surge.

TV repair is a process of elimination; you replace the most likely circuit board to the least likely circuit board until one resolves the issue. If none of the circuit boards fix the issue then it is determined to be a failure within the back lights or the panel/screen. If you replace a main board or T-con in a Sony the firmware most likely will need to be updated. I would highly suggest checking the Sony website to ensure that update is available for your model.

@@tvpartstoday thanks! I just connected the new main board. No red flashing led. The screen is backlit but nothing else happens. I tried updating the firmware with the USB drive but nothing different is happening. Any ideas?

I have a XBR-49X900E That powers up with a blue screen. I have tried multiple resets with out success, I have noticed when using the remote the tv is receiving the signal but with out and change to screen could this be the T con board

That sounds like it could be a few different things. The t-con board will be the cheapest part to replace but it could also be the main board giving you problems. If you email a picture of the back of your TV to [e-mail] they can look into how to take the back off the TV. As for the boards it is just plug and play but you will need to make sure the Sony website still offers the firmware update for your model before purchasing the main board.

So on the X900F, if it just randomly shuts off by itself, about once every couple of hours but otherwise works fine and powers back up, and have already tried numerous hard resets, do you think this is the G84 power supply board starting to fail? Thanks for the great video!

If you already replaced the t-con board, we would suggest trying the main board next. There could also be an issue with the panel if the main board doesn't work. Unfortunately, replacing a screen can, in some cases, be more expensive than buying a new TV. There are a few websites that carry screen and panel replacements, but we don't carry or sell them.

I have a XBR-75x900f and turned it off and the next morning powered it up and got the Sony splash screen and then the android start up screen for about 4 seconds, then the screen went black and the front LED started to blink RED 4 times then 3 second pause and blinks 4 times and then repeats. Is this possibly power board or LED failure? Also do you have a tear down video for this model? ANY help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

I would start the troubleshooting process to narrow down what the issue could be. If you are hearing sound but you are not getting a picture I would recommend doing the flashlight test to see if you are getting back lights. Ill link our flashlight video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aIWwl56PrpprkLc If you can see an image when you do the flashlight test it, most likely, means your backlights are not firing correctly and that would be the avenue to follow. If you are NOT seeing an image when you do the flashlight test the likely culprit is your mainboard. Can you do a video on the X900H? The back of this unit has none of the screws you show on this but one but rather a bunch of screws around the edge but I’m not sure if they are to keep the screen in place

It sounds like a mainboard or a t-con issue. T-con would be a perfectly reasonable place to start.

@franceflorian If you can get the back off the TV and check the t-con itself, there should be a small sticker on the top of the t-con board with a barcode on it. If you check the number right under the barcode (it should be something like: V40846K8K0AD7) a partial part number will be imbedded in that serial number. The example I gave you will have the partial part number 40846K which ties back to a part number LJ94-40846K. So we will be looking for that partial part number at the beginning of that serial number. We do not need the "V" at the beginning and it continues as "40846K". If you type that partial part number into our system if should give you the correct t-con part number you would need to order.

I have this same TV, and it's stuck on a rolling reset - it powers off then back on again and gets to the Google animation, then resets again. If the hard reset procedure doesn't work, should I just replace the main board, or could it be another (tcon) board that's the culprit?

Your TV does not have a lamp, it has LED backlight strips. I would recommend replacing your LED driver board first if you have no backlights.

Does your model have an LED driver? If so that’s what the four flashes likely mean. If not secondary causes are power supply, main board, JK board, tuner board or the screen itself.

Backlight strip was delivered, installed and the tv is back in business. Backlight had a total of 135 bulbs, 1 blown was enough to render the tv useless.

Most likely it is the T-con. You will most likely need to update the firmware to pair the new T-con to the existing main board. You can also try updating the firmware before replacing any parts. Some times this can correct issues in Sony.

My XBR-65X900F won't power up, It powered up and worked for a few hours when I recycled power and then again it shut down the next day and wont power up after. The stand-by LED is not turning on either. I am able to measure 3.4vdc on the pins for the standby LED on `the power board. Is there any other diagnostics I can perform to identify where the problem lies?

The x900F series is known to have a troublesome main board but if you no longer have an indicator light, it could be the power supply board as well.
