Super Fun Crazy Big Bull Moose Antics and Hissy Fits
It’s only two weeks before departure for Alaska folks. Today we have a very special video to share that Libby recently produced. It is a treasure!
Libby searched through a ton of footage searching for footage of moose having “hissy fits” as she calls it. We are grateful to have witnessed all these moments and very excited to be leaving in 12 days for AK trip #9.
Let’s talk about this behavior. It’s difficult to completely understand these temper tantrums from both the cows and the bulls, but the rut brings out these behaviors. For 10 ½ months a year, moose are pretty mellow, just eating, resting, and moving around during those months to feed on more nutritious browse. Sure, cow moose are mothering for much of that time too, but their lives are so much less intense than during the rut. Nature is awesome!
