Artemus Crestwind a huge hit? I wouldn't go that far. I enjoy it on a nostalgic level, but out of the various "cut and paste" shows that were made because of the popularity of Power Rangers, this was a more obscure and less successful example. it was also probably the cheapest on a production level.

Meanwhile a DiC accident turns Matthew Lawrence into Gridman, his friends are shoe-horned in at the last minute into attack vehicles. Together they transform into 'A show that tries to copy the success of Power Rangers'. :D

Here's a little bonus: Gridman now has an anime reboot. The first episode has already been dubbed by Funimation. The anime is called "SSSS.Gridman". No bonus points for guessing how they came up with that title.

I watched SSSS.Gridman then found out that it's adapted from Denkou Choujin Gridman, then I watched a Denkou Choujin Gridman video and found it familiar somehow and finally traced it back to this.

It was the 90's. You weren't hip unless you were intentionally misspelling something.
