+HerrSpuzzmacher *Notice how they're in a GE lab, and they're not GE employees? All guests require an escort. ...not to take away from your need to disparage everything you see...* It's logical. If someone would see anything specific and talk about it after leaving that lab or record this specific thing and later release to public(for example as an YT's video), GE would lose chance to patent it. To be honest I think that some of the "hardcore" GE's rivals already studied this video in search of any potential patent-breaking content xD

You should do one of the Leidenfrost Effect. Basically, if you get a hot plate super-hot and splash a little water on it, rather than landing on the plate and boiling away, the water droplets will actually glide across the plate on their own steam.

Borris Janovski water will always look like rubber/bouncy due to surface tension, the bonds, cohesion and adhesion. all of which are factors to why any liquid will act like rubber.. this would be the case if it was on a normal surface such as glass or even silk.

This is really neat. The water droplets almost look like Jell-O when they bounce! Also the magnetic fluid was fascinating. Love the little peaks it forms when it attaches to the magnet. One thing, I was looking forward to the MEMS and Cold Spray videos, but the links seem to be broken.

The ferrofluid is nothing new, look into Sachiko Kodama and all her art works using ferrofluid.. THEY ARE AMAZING!! The formations the ferrofluid makes are just representations of the magnetic fields of the magnets themselves..

For anyone wondering, hydrophobic coatings have been around for awhile (think rain-x). However super hydrophobic coatings are less common, and usually used to protect extremely sensitive electronics and things like that.

Andrew Lee Yeah, hence I put the acts like a muppet rather than he is one. Asking what seems silly questions is how we find solutions to things that we never before gave a thought about and Gavin has plenty of silly questions :') Which sometimes leave everyone puzzled but sometimes they're just plain silly.
