This episode was filmed just 3 months after D&E discharged so they're still awkward & trying to get used to the cameras again. Eunhyuk was a veteran on variety shows before enlistment but Donghae (and Yesung) is a true variety show virgin. They had a running joke at that time that Donghae would only appear in a variety show once every 6 years. Donghae is of course in a lot more shows now so he's doing much better and can even host shows by himself. ELFs are so proud of him now! BTW, if you're new to Donghae, he's extremely shy, hates to have the attention focused on him, cries at the drop of a hat, and he hates to do cutesy things (BTW, being naturally cute (like he is) is totally different than being made to act cute). If pressed like the cute poses they wanted him to do at the beginning of the show, he'll try (being the professional entertainer that he is), but then he'll start crying because it's making him so uncomfortable & then lashed out. Typical Donghae's reaction! Shindong on the other hand used to host several children shows in the early years so he's very good with cutesy funny reactions!!!

I love that when Heechul is alone on variety shows he's the crazy one, but when he's with his members he's the least crazy. You can actually see he's more worried about protecting the others and making them shine than getting screentime. Also Hyukjae went to stand between Heechul and Leeteuk because that's "his place". If you watch their concerts you'll see that's the position they normally stand in.

Eunhyuk is the sub-leader. If Leeteuk is not available, Eunhyuk will take the place of leader. Heechul was the leader once and there are photos that proved that he got into severe depression afterwards.

trivia: after this episode Doni & Coni announced they were leaving the show after 5 or so years of hosting it. they really were almost shut down 😅 they tried some other hosts and now Eunhyuk hosts the show with Kwanghee 😂 he planned it all! lol jk also usually this show has more structure. they are the only ones who can do all this chaos and DoniConi be helpless to it

I prefer the current format under Eunhyuk and Kwanghee - much more nicer to the idol invitees. Previously it was painful to watch - almost like hashing and ragging! Except that Super Junior held up (but could see they too were uncomfortable).

I am so amazed by what you describe under this clip. You look at them like you've been following them for 3-4 years. You talk about them all exactly (at that time), their behavior will be different depending on the show. Yesung's philtrum obsession has been well known in the fandom for a long time (many even learned the term because of him), he claim to not do it anymore but his members still occasionally talk about when he used to and he also touches his pets in the same spot so maybe he's not completely over the habit. His mother once mentioned how in their family they touch each other's faces to show affection, that's probably what Yesung was doing with his members but then noticed it made them uncomfortable and stopped. The funny thing is that when it's others touching his face he stops talking and just smile, I used to joke it was his off switch. Jongwoon is a very pretty name, "woon" is written with the chinese character for "cloud" (They teased him a lot for it, he was nicknamed "black cloud", saying he was too gloomy), but he decided to change his name recently and it's now Kanghoon. There's a bit of asian fortune telling involved, he changed the water element of his name (the rainy cloud) into a fire element (He explained the new name means something like "good burn") which is supposed to balance his emotions.
