In 2017, i just finished secondary school and it was the start of the worst summer holiday of my life. Lost all my friends, barely spoke to anyone because I didn't have a phone and was home alone 24/7. All I really had was this game and my trusty 2ds. So i hyperfixated on it all day, every day for two months. I spend forever just playing the same level repeatedly until I had it down and was satisfied before moving on to the next. I was a perfectionist and would just keep at it until i didn't make a mistake. I feel bittersweet towards it now. Like it got me through some really rough times at 16 and gave me something to look forward to but I feel sad that i had to immerse myself into it in the first place

My old family home was a totally health hazard, never had heating or hot water, mould and mushrooms growing everywhere since I was born. I had no space to sleep, right to privacy, study or live. I was walking on eggshells everyday afraid of my abusive brother and father. She was offered a decent flat and given a choice to wait for renovations move in after 6 months or move in as soon as is before and live in a building zone. I begged my mother if I could start doing my studying there during the day but eventually I accidentally crashing there when things at home got bad. Eventually I started living there because it was much closer to my school and easier than dealing with me. Usually the renovation work was all done between the times I was at school anyway so it was a much better living situation than being with my family _(still not pleasant or ideal as it sounds) ._ She gave me an allowance and checked on me weekly but I was living on my own for months. I became incredibly depressed due to exam stress, crippling loneliness and abandonment issues. I had people/"friends" take advantage of me because they knew I was a 15yr old girl living alone with no safe adults around. After a several really bad incidents, the police and social services got involved. My mother was told she couldn't legally let me live alone (obviously) and moved into the flat conveniently when the renovations were done.

I love how 3ds graphics are just as smooth as the ones we have today, but you can see the tiny pixels and I absolutely love it. I hope game devs make games with this kind of graphics in maybe 10 years when all the game devs grew up with a ds or 3ds

Used to play this game religiously at my grandmas house when I was 10-15 I remember trying to Speedrun those levels and try to get the best time damn some good times She’s passed now and I’m finally getting to a point of acceptance and moving on I think just can’t wait to see her again one day Love this game great job! There's only about 25 seconds of noticeable mistakes in this entire 53 minute run. That's incredible. Congrats! 5-1: 2 seconds lost to taking damage (19:57) 6-1: 6 seconds lost to missed Winged ? Block jump to Star Coin (27:51) 6-2: 2.5 seconds lost slightly missed elevator skip (28:48) 6-3: 2.5 seconds lost to ground pound and missed long jump (30:13) 6-4: 1.5 seconds lost to Wallop bonk (31:24) 7-4: 7.5 seconds lost to missed skip and then bad star coin grab (36:53) 8-2: 0.5 seconds to wall rub (41:51) 8-4: 1.5 seconds to missed long jump (43:36) 8-5: 1 second to missed jump (44:28)

Because you only skip that section of the level, he uses the p wing at the second half of the level because the boss fight with bowser is really slow and has a lot of cutscenes if remember correctly

Late reply to this but it's called vectoring and exists in 3D Land, 3D World and Odyssey, where you angle yourself 45° away from the direction you want to go in the air. It's some kind of oversight in the physics

They’re only getting the necessary amount of star coins to access the last levels (the castle stages) in some of the worlds, just like most 3D Mario games
