What would make this perfect is if you could do a split screen. Have the two screens together when you are close to each other or in the same line of vision. But, when not you can have the camera split. Also, make it where both players can go after their own individual stars. But, still count together as a collective.

The funny thing is, only one of them can have 100 coins for themself, because if they both collect coins, the coins will be split between both of them, and there are no courses with 200+ coins. I guess one of them can collect a 100-coin star at a time, but the other one has to stay away from the coins completely, whether he can try or if likes it or not.
