The reason was that's what Peach was called in North America and Europe. Peach was her Japanese name.

Her name was always Peach. The localizers were just being overly creative with names and tried to impose their headcanon in games. It worked in some parts (the names they gave to the Koopalings in Mario 3 were later adopted in the Japanese versions), but not in others. It came to an end with Super Mario 64

Wow! First of all, thank you for this awesome nostalgia! Me and my big bro also had this game on our NES among other famous such games. This is the version and this is how I exactly remember it, thank you so much for this nostalgia! :D And do I got a problem with u using Princess Peach in this? No, not at all! In fact, why wouldn't anyone use Princess Peach as she has both some guts and fight-skills too and she's simply awesome! I myself always used Peach in this game, whenever I could in any Mario game I used Peach, even tough I also like Daisy and Rosalina a lot too, use them a lot alongside with Peach in Mario Kart Wii also. But when it comes to Smashbros games, it's Princess Zelda for me. But other, it has almost always and mostly been Peach for me! :)

megagrey I have hardly no knowledge at all of the Castlevania games so I do not know Shanoa, but I'm curious to know and thus I'll check her out sometime. Also, I envy how people manage to do these hacks and modding the characters like this and then being able to use them in the actual games for I do not have the stuff to do that even tough I have Brawl. I want that American McGee's Alice skin for Zelda, AMAlice is also another girl you really do not wanna mess with, and even less when she is either in Rage or in Hysteria. AMAlice alongside with Princess Zelda is seriously my idols. Both those gals are awesome and has been very inspiring for me. Even tough I also look up to Peach and all the other of those princesses which I mentioned above, also their heroes. I grew up with them and they all have inspired me with much and various things and messages etc since then, but those who have truly inspired me and are real idols for me, are indeed AMAlice and Zelda. That's where my username comes from too. ^_^

ZeldAlice It's the 1951 Disney Alice I'll always remember the most fondly. I had hoped Kingdom Hearts would have a boss fight with a 200-foot brainwashed Alice you beat Shadow of the Colossus-style but NOOOOOOOOOOO.... Maria Renard is another great 'Vania girl. To quote SomeCallMeJohnny: "Playing as a 12-year-old in a pink dress compared to the manliness that is Richter Belm-FUCK YOU MARIA IS AWESOME!"

megagrey Personally, Disney's cartoon Alice film never really struck me or got into me anything. I liked Tim Burton's Alice a lot more then. And then we have the Hallmarks Alice film which I personally find is the best of them all. But the very best Alice for me, the Alice I will forever remember and will always be inspired by plus a character who has always struck me the deepest, is AMAlice. Her story and games goes so deep and dark psychologically and has a lot of inspiring and important messages and such, at least that is my personal opinion. Other, I have heard about Maria Renard, but that's all. Otherwise I know nothing of these games.

Yume Koujou Doki Doki Panic was based on the Japanese cartoon series. Which was why it never made to Europe or North America.

I grew up with this game, its still my favorite, but I like the newer version on Super Nintendo, Mario Allstars, I love how they added graphics to it and actually Princess Toadstool looks better in the Allstars version.

I like the music at the last boss on the NES version better than on SNES Super Mario All Stars. The design of the level too. It's not designed too much. The only thing in this level I like on the SNES better is they colored everything he's wearing. Something I can't believe they didn't color when they made this game a Mario Game. After all, they improved other things. The weeds were black with no motion; the word pow had no motion; many enemies used to just slide without moving any limbs.

Funny thing is this game was a legal hack of a game called Dream Factory Heart Pounding Panic or something along those lines in English. Originally Mouser would have been fought yet again for the third time in World 5 as it's boss but they decided the third Mouser battle would be too hard so they replaced him with Clawgrip. Me I prefer Super Mario Bros. 2 over Dream Factory because it was obviously the version I grew up playing as I lived in America.

toad did have purpose in that game. he was the fastest of all of them. Luigi had a high jump vertically. the princess had long range jump in distance. and mario was just kind of balanced out.

wow, so many memories. a few things 1) the manual said clawgrip could "grow suddenly" and many kids i knew claimed they've seen this. they didn't want to admit the nes manuals were shitty and poorly translated :P 2) your wart technique drives me nuts 3) once as a kid i took out all four little fryguys with one mushroom block. to this day i cannot duplicate that (though i've seen it in speedruns and shit)

A fake mario- what is it? an evil clone?" turns out its Bowser's model from Yoshi's Island now calling itself Bowser Junior. >_< Honestly, I know Bowser's the villian in a good number of Mario games and thus it was all going to boil down to him in the end, but making his baby self the mario clone and claiming it was a new character was... just... I beat the whole game using Mario because of his well balanced stats. Sure Toadstool has good jumping abilities but she is very slow and lifts objects much slower. I prefer the well rounded character so I would choose either Mario or (I am so getting flamed for this) Toad due to how strong and agile he is.
