A shame none of the extra jingley-dingles could be made, but frankly this sounds so GOOD I'm gonna let it slide. This is a FANTASTIC reimagining of my personal favorite 2D Mario game. Hits me right in the best parts of the Childhood. Definitely gonna keep an eye out for whatever you cook up next.

Super Mario Bros 3's soundtrack just makes me so happy! ❤️ These covers are really great, they've got the same lovely pleasant vibes as the original but with a unique new sound. I love the energy you added to the Athletic theme in particular. I also really like your cover of the P-Switch theme, it's such a simple tune that it totally caught me off guard that you even did it, but I actually really like this version of it.

yeah, the soundtrack is full of goodies. i had a lot of fun with the athletic one! the p switch theme was actually the first thing i finished for this project. to be honest, i wasn't planning on covering the whole ost, but after doing the p switch i knew what had to be done hahahaha

These are cool, they're simple but they work. I think I would have liked to see more creative deviations from the originals. Really put those channels to work and come up with some cool ideas on how to fully expand on these classic songs.

Honestly i was a lot more into the later ones- world maps and extra themes. They feel more creative and cool probably because those songs gave you less to work with from the start.

Smooth remix as well, though 15:36 and 16:05 at this point just became two of 100th Coin's themes to me 17:05 Ah yes, the ACE theme. 17:42 smooth pt.3 18:01 no way you included the [P-Switch hit] sound 18:29 Starting the Starman theme off slow really caught me off guard on first listen. Overall, nice compilation of SMB3 remixes.

Amqzing work! I love the atheltic theme! Why did you choose to not use some channels in some of the pieces? E,g, the overworld theme doesn't use the triangle channel. As you've given a link to the NSF I assume your cover is free for use as long as you're credited?

I didn't know what to put in some empty channels to enhance the track, so instead of trying i just left it empty . or I felt a channel wasn't needed. yes, all my work is freely available under that condition . thank you again!

@@vgmdeconstructed it's hard to say exactly how long it took, but i started taking it serious in march 2019. this video is from august 2019 so... only a few months on-and-off to get used to it to the point where i could take on a project like this. i used covers as a way to familiarize myself with learning the program, without having to worry about composing, so yeah covers are definitely a great thing to do. best wishes to you! i hope you make lots of cool stuff!

thank you for all your comments! if you want to get into making nes music, there are tons of tutorials out there for getting started. you don't need to know how to play piano to get into it either! the internet's cool cause there are resources everywhere for just about anything. i recommend installing Famitracker, and checking out Teuthida and Ben Burnes' Famitracker tutorials as a good place to get started. if you want to learn more about music, there lots of videos out there on youtube, and websites in general about theory and all that good stuff. i wish you the best! (p.s if you have any questions feel free to ask me on discord or something)

hi, thank you short answer, no it wasn't really. long answer, the second one at the end is actually an earlier attempt that i scrapped (for obvious reasons hehe) and threw to the end and kind of forgot about. i only noticed after exporting the NSF that it was still in there, but decided to keep it in as a thing people could discover for downloading the NSF? sorry if it caused any confusion haha

in the description i list some programs used, although i would use dn-famitracker today (github.com/Dn-Programming-Core-Management/Dn-FamiTracker) for the music. that's the spirit! if you're willing to learn then there are some good resources out there: battle of the bits' lyceum (battleofthebits.com/lyceum/View/FamiTracker%20Effects%20Commands for example) is somewhat of a one-stop shop for all kinds of chiptune needs, as some if not all pages will have links to tutorials, wikis, manuals, etc. i would say a lot of my learning came from playing around with the programs, experimenting while reading manuals they may have come with. good wishes to you, glad there are still enthusiasts for that classic sound o7

In Dn-Famitracker (and other FT versions, the one in this video is j0cc) you can view the register states by hovering over the top bar, selecting "View", and then toggling "Register State". Good luck with your project!
