It was a lovely time to be on the internet, despite some of the other stuff going on. Back when Flash animation was at its peak and you had such amazing talent out there making stuff like SMBZ and Rise of the Mushroom Kingdom. I know there's a "official" reboot opening but sadly it just doesn't compare to this one. The song is perfect, this whole thing just perfectly captures the feel of the original Super Mario Bros Z animations. Watching this again for the first time in over five years it's just like.. those days are gone. Especially with Nintendo killing any and all fan projects that so much as peek out from under a rock. I actually have the swf files for this opening and the SMBZ videos that Alvin Earthworm put up way back in the day, but it's nice to see they still exist here on KZbin. NewGrounds is.. not what it used to be. A lot of things on the internet have changed. Some for the best, others for the worst. But at least I can still look back on things like this and feel excited for a while.

I remember being really disappointed when Alvin Earthworm redid the opening and it *didn't* have the song from Rockman.EXE Axess, and I was immediately disappointed. The original opening, this one, was far better. It not only captured the feel better, but it's just a super great song.
