If there's one thing I hate about this comet, it's that the timer still goes down even after you've collected all the coins.

Absolutely annoying: it's need to not just collect all coins in a time, it's need to also keep a time gap to get a star at end. The Toy Galaxy (Luigi's purple coins) the hardest challenge, I spent a lot of attempts and still unsuccess. Such challenges require a PERFECT performance, one small mistake and everything ruined, start all from the begining.

No matter what some people may say, i definitely believe Luigi's Purple Coins is the hardest Purple Coin mission to date in my opinion, though Purple Coins in the Bone Pen and the Puzzle Cube come as close seconds (and personally, for me, Battlestation's Purple Coins was pretty easy).

gusty garden and dreadnaught purple coins were never my favorite but i was happy when i finally completed them

​@@tarantulamum4322Once you collect all purple coins you need to beat bowser again. Then you unlock Luigi and play the game over as Luigi. Once you complete the game as Luigi the final Galaxy opens up and then you've 100% the game :)

Spoilers obviously: When you've collected all 120 stars (including all purple coin comets) and defeat bowser a second time, you unlock Luigi as a playable character. Luigi can run faster and jump higher than Mario, but his controls are more slippery and he'll lose air when spinning underwater. I believe the only difference in the levels when playing as Luigi is that the cosmic race comets are harder, as cosmic Luigi will long jump, take shortcuts, etc. If you once again obtain all 120 stars and defeat bowser as Luigi, you unlock the 121st star in Grand Finale Galaxy, which is a short and easy purple coin mission where you go back to the Star Festival from the game's intro. And that's the end of the game.
