for some reason this sounds sad, maybe it is just my sleep deprived brain getting sad at the fact that people that played this game in their childhood are now full grown adults maintaining a family most likely in their 30s-40s, or the tones in the music are in a scale that is usually used for sad sounding music

I love this song so much and I really like the aesthetic of the Koopa Beach level in Super Mario Kart as well. The theme just calms me and makes me feel both sad and happy, so bittersweet basically. It also makes me feel nostalgic despite me having not even played this game or watched any substantial gameplay of it untill thus year (its March 7th, 2023). The composer(s) did an amazing job on this race tracks music track and the game's soundtrack as a whole, and the composers of the music in the other Mario Kart games are very talented too. :^)
