At 28:19 he died simply because he stopped holding right. It took them around 2:30 to even clear the 4th blade, meanwhile the other team was completing the level, which it took them another minute and a half to do. At 33:31 he straight up just dies on the first enemy because he screwed up the simplest jump. At 34:05 what was he thinking here? Clearly his only method of progressing had been destroyed? Why play around with the shell? It's clearly not going to carry you to the end of that segment. Then they hit the checkpoint at 7 minutes, a full 2 minutes behind what the other team hit it at, and the gap only gets bigger due to a lot of stupid mistakes and sloppy playing. By the time they hit the next checkpoint, the other team is on their way to finishing the next level already. They may be good runners, but their performance here was bad, simple as that.

It's not even close. I think the other format AGDQ switched to is better, where for each map the team who beat it scores a point THEN both teams switch to the new level. Right screen is clearly going to win this match up the way things are, as left screen finds itself getting further and further and further behind.
