Obviously, hitting EVERY single trick in a marathon with no resets is as cool as it is unlikely to happen, and definitely a handful of misses here, but the back-up strategies and overall quality of movement, still very fun to watch.

Haven't watched the whole thing yet, do they ever explain why he's playing the game in Chinese? I've heard of people playing the original Japanese versions of games because the text goes faster, but I've not heard of people playing Chinese versions as a speedrunning strat.

It's for the same reason in this game Japanese (or any other language) has a couple more textboxes than Chinese most likely so they set the language to Chinese to save time

Can someone tell me what he means by an “Animal Crossing strategy” at the very start of the video?

Not 100% sure, but I assume it’s due to the fact the strategy is based on real-life time (daylight savings specifically) since the moon on Sand Kingdom for the potted plant only appears after 20 minutes IRL. In Animal Crossing, events are based on real life time too, and thus you could change your Switch’s time to fast forward those events, similar to how it’s done in this run.

It's a joke on how you can "cheat" in Animal Crossing by changing the system clock, thereby advancing timelocked events. You abuse the system clock to advance golden seeds in Mario Odyssey in a similar vein

Setting the time, and jumping time back/forth to get what you need. A lot of content in Animal Crossing is timelocked to day/night/season cycles.

In animal crossing, people often change their system’s clock forward/back (because animal crossing uses the system clock for a bunch of events, such as new years, the player’s birthday etc) for a certain event(s). So they were poking fun/mentioning the people that do that because they change the clock for daylight savings time for the seed in sand kingdom
