More dynamic music in games equals more deconstructed videos like these btw, THIS is why you should be excited by that prospect, having music be able to be deconstructed like this is useful to everyone regardless of standing, you love to see it and you get to analyse why you love something, lest me be very analytical about why I love this track rather than my base “it’s neat” approach.

This is so cursed and SO beautiful, I love it so much! I really didn't see it coming, and still don't get why they did this. I actually fired up the game when this video first came out(2 days ago lol), and visited New Donk City to see if I could find any dynamic per-channel volume changes, but couldn't find anything. maybe i missed something. Having the track separated like this comes with the advantage of the developers being able to more dynamically change the flavor of the track, by changing volumes of different channels, reacting to gameplay changes, for example. I couldn't notice anything like this in-game. However, it comes with the disadvantage of added cost on both storage space, because it's FIVE tracks instead of just ONE that need to be stored, and more cost on the CPU, because those FIVE tracks ALSO need to be MIXED in REAL TIME!!1!1 So I have no idea why they did it like this. But it makes this deconstruction possible, which is wicked sweet! ❤

If you haven't seen it already, its only really used in fresh game where you haven't met the musicians yet. Channel 1 is the base track for daytime, and the other 4 channels represent each musician, so their respective channel is added to the song when you meet them

Man, Channels 1 and 5, arguably the most recognizable parts of the song, just don't sound complete together. They sound like two streams of music that are just happening to play at the same time, instead of one song. Goes to show that every instrument and player in a song is equally important.

Orj, I know you said that it’s streamed. but can you elaborate more on what’s the difference between sequenced music and streamed music, so that people won’t have an aneurysm.
@Orj_Osc Жыл бұрын
Sequenced music is pretty much the equivalent of midis where it can be separated by muting the channels. (It's also accompanied with a soundfont.) Streamed music is like CD music where it's just a single audio file that can't be separated. The video above is a special case, it's streamed but separated in layers thanks to the musicians that you meet throughout New Donk City. So I had the opportunity to make a deconstruction!
