it's really hard to fly for that long to get over to that part, i've known about for about a decade but failed every time.

Even with revive frame states on SNES online its a time saver but still requires skill to actually do

Honestly kinda disappointing that the second boss door isn't an actual secret exit. That would've been perfect for a path upwards from the Fortress and to the left toward Morton's Castle. That would've made for quite a handy shortcut on the world map. The 9 1-ups are a pretty cool reward though.

I mean, it leads directly to Star Road. Not sure what more you could want.

@@Deined The fortress goes to Star Road regardless of whether you took the lava pit across or not. An extra secret exit would have been great.

I have attempted to get across that big lava pit, but had no luck. I just need to practice on the Cape opening which allows Mario to fly sort of.

If you go to donut plains 1, there’s a pipe that leads to a big open area with tons of coins in the sky.. you can practice flying there. The tip SMW gives is to alternate pushing forward and backward, but I’ve found only pushing backwards once the cape bubbles up is the best way to stay in the air. Good luck!

How do you not get hurt when you get hit??

If you’re hit while gliding with the cape, you’re just knocked out of your glide with temporary invincibility.

I remember when I was 6 in 96 and always getting angry for not reaching the other side and falling into the lava. Then in 2004 at 14 I played the whole game again and finally reached the other side. It felt so great and now I feel better because I never had any help or some tutorial (There was no KZbin back then) Sorry for the ones who never crossed the lava and only did it with some tutorial.

Oh friend, that story was very nice, It's beautiful to return after years and achieve your childhood goals. I actually saw that path, but my problem was crossing (I didn't know how to fly properly...)
