I cried at this moment. It wasn't scary per se, but I found it sad. I mean come on! The big red dude did nothing but try to defend himself from the mass murderer that is Samus Aran, and what does he get? The most painful, graphical death in the whole game! It is indeed sad, don't you think?

This boss theme has always had a definite sense of terror to it. When you hear this music begin, it as if you know you are going to see something sizable and grotesque. It is the theme of a big, ugly monster, one that makes your bones shake and your nerves go wild, one that scares you into a heart attack. Intimidating and terrifying; just overwhelming.

This game made full use of its excellent music. After going down that hallway towards Kraid, dispatching what you thought was Kraid, then getting stuck at a field of spikes, wondering where to go and BAM! This thunderous theme of doom jumps out at you and Kraid rises. Brilliant.

it makes Dread's kraid fight that much better too samus lowers her guard doesnt say anything vocally, but her body posture says "really bro? youre the fourth kraid ive fought i aint scared" then she contemptuously shoots him in the mouth (showing new players where the weak point is)

This game's soundtrack did so much right. Perfect tracks that played at just the right time. Hear this shit play. Get scared out of your mind seeing Crocomire and hearing it howl and claw. Push Crocomire backward into the acid, watch it's flesh boil off as it sinks in. The track switches off to that tension music while you see a trail of bubbles leading to the back wall of the room. Follow the bubbles, this music comes back in pounding when the giant skelleton of Crocomire bursts through the wall. Fucking fantastic. I love Nintendo for classic moments like that.

Something about her current surroundings made Samus nervous. She had faced many a monster but as she climbed down the ladder and looked into the distance she saw it. The sight of the red beast confused her at first so she walked towards it. She moved up to its side and... it was sleeping? Attempting to stay silent Samus turned and began to try and figure out how to get past the wall of spikes. Unfortunately, lost in thought, Samus forgot to watch her step. The ringing tone her suit made when it collided with the powerful rock was ear-splitting, and of course the thing woke up. It looked at her with both sizes of its head. The eight eyes would've frozen anyone else, but Samus held her ground. It began marching towards her, albeit very slowly, and let out a deep, groaning roar. She fired a super missile at it's belly. No effect. Any other creature would've at least been fazed, but this creature just kept marching forth. She then remembered the words of the Chozo wise-men who she listened to in her childhood, "Beware the blood-red arms, with claws of ivory power. Met with it has any being only in their darkest hour. Strength excuses wisdom to the monster red as fire. Rare be they for valid reasons, the nemesis Crocomire." Samus would bring an end to this legend or die trying.

When I finally got there as an adult a few months ago (i could never get there as a kid for some reason), it, even at my age, STILL made me a bit unsettled. Just, yeah, the Ghost Ship is definitely the creepiest place in the game, and that's saying a lot. To me anyway.

Its obvious that their creation of Kraid was inspired by Godzilla’s appearance and then adding a couple of fin ears and three eyes on him. This theme was remixed in Zero Mission when you face him. Phantoon was just some ghostly alien monster that must be defeated to turn the power back on after when you first enter the wrecked ship in Crateria.
