Oh man :) I am pretty sure that we no need to visit every six months to get SSA benefits. I got heart attack when you mentioned. As Arthi told we will spend SSA money for flight ticket :) And one more thing we can apply the benefit through online and India bank details to provide for SSA money. But providing US account will be the best option and we can transfer to India account as needed

All the information are in the video are correct. I would like to add one more important point. If H1B visa holder passed away ,still the dependent can get the SSN benefits irrespective of any points(not necessarily 40 pts, but eligible points) they accumulated.Dependent must go to SSN office and produce the necessary documents of the H1B holder and claim it. Recently I came across the scenario I helped my friend family on the SSN aspect who passed away.

i just wanted to add few information. Social Security Retirement benefits is just not about income after your retirement but it has several secondary benefits. Retirement income is based on how many years you worked and how much salary you earned. However to qualify for Medicare, you should have earned 40 credits. IF you have less credit then you end up paying more for PART A premium. Spouse with no work history automatically gets the credit from his or her spouse work earned credit, Meaning if one spouse has 40 credit then both spouse qualify for Medicare. you may qualify for Medicare before age 65 if you are diagnosed with ESRD or deemed disabled. Also if you have a disabled child or disabled adult with no work history then they will qualify for SSDI based on parents work history.

This is what i can see from SSA web site..Your Payments While You Are Outside The United States Country List 4 Your payments will continue even if you have been outside the U.S. for more than six full calendar months, if you are a citizen of one of the countries listed below, and the worker on whose record your benefits are based lived in the U.S. for at least 10 years or earned at least 40 credits under the U.S. Social Security system India is one of the country listed

Hi. In the video you are saying that an Indian Citizen with a green card or a visa holder can claim Social Security benefits. I lived in the USA for 16 years. The green card never got issued after applying. I was on H1b Visa and on EAD. I returned to India in 2016 and currently I don't have any US Visa . My question is at the age of 62 can I start claiming social security benefits by visiting one of their offices in USA or Philippines?
