It’s usually not in the manuals. But it’s proven that it’s hard on your pto to go from no speed to full speed blades All at once!

Stet's Lawn Care I agree I always do that on my mowers as well even my Honda push mower. Saves the clutch, belts and engine. The groundskeepers at my school have a Gianni Ferrari Turbo 1W amongst a mountain of other mowers and the guy who uses it the most always slams the blades on at full blast. My school is pretty big (would easily take 20mins+ to walk from one side to the other) and you can hear the screech of the belts and the engine almost stalling out when he kicks on the clutch from just about anywhere lol. Funny how Toro and Exmark actually have different procedures even though they are pretty much all the same mowers except for the paint job and stickers. Exmark says never engage at more than 1/2 throttle, Toro says never engage at less than full throttle :/ I would have thought Scag mentions it in their manuals Wyatt I have seen it does in quite a few (TT, Cheetah etc.) but I don't know. Either way it is certainly not a bad habit to adopt. Same thing goes for disengaging the blades too might I add unless you get the clutch brake removed.

@sdudley11 4 жыл бұрын
samuel total agree stained the sidewalk is unprofessional if it was me I would of used the push mower with a gagger around the side walk so don't get on it and on the street then have to blow it off to me it just saves time. I have my own lawn care when I got yards like that I just use my 21 inch push mower it mite take a little longer to do but well worth it and also looks better as well

Yo bud, second video of yours I just watched. I love the hustle. Just some more advice because I want you to become more and more successful. When using 2 guys have one start weedwacking, and you start mowing. Do the front first, so as you go to mow the back, and he's done weedwacking, then he starts to blow the front off while you finish mowing. Better to over weedwack, you know how much room the mower needs to make it's turns. Also when it's that high, mow at one height and then lower blades, easier clean up. Then when it's time to blow off walk to the furthest point away from trailer and work your way back, don't waste time starting to blow off from trailer out, always be working your way back to trailer. Time is money, stay blessed and good luck bud...

Just watched this video Wyatt , good job dude! 👍 If I could offer a little advice it would be , try to keep your tires from running over the cut grass on the sidewalk if possible because that will prevent grassy tire tracks and , try to discharge the grass away from the sidewalk because it will make cleanup a lot easier! 👍 I really like your vids they are well done and your POV vids are great, keep up the good work!🙂

On virgin yards like this where you don't know the property: First walk the yard. Remove any large diameter sticks. Watch for water main pipe risers and chunks of curbing. (Usually on a tree lawn or near the street) You don't want run those over. Mow first, cutting an inch higher than your finished height. (Sometimes we can't adhere to to the 2/3rds rule. Not the end of the world) Blow the clippings back into the lawn. THEN trim. Mow again sucking up the excess. Edge and blow down. Good luck.

I saw him blowing the clumps around and he made sure to keep the grass away from the neighbors side and the street. I thought he and his brother made this yard look great at the end. I’ve seen many lawn crews rush and don’t pay attention to detail work. That’s another reason why clients will get upset. I certainly believe it’s important to make your work precise and efficient and don’t rush.

Pro tip: if you learn how to string trim ambidextrously (left and right hands) your speed will increase and you won’t end up walking backwards all day, practice on woods lines and low profile areas , I rest the power head on my left arm, don’t grip it, more comfortable , keep up the good work guys

dheadhunter413 I can do it while walking forwards just fine. I just like walking backwards while I trim since the string spins counter clockwise. Thanks for the tip though!

Wyatt's lawn service your trimming looks fine , I know exactly why you walk backwards , I used to all the time , if you throttle with left hand it has the same results as walking backwards, your speed will doubl, if you save 5 minutes lawn on 20 lawns that’s two hrs off your day

Wyatt's lawn service do it for a min or two a lawn, the hardest part is training your right hand to do what your left hand usually does , I don’t hold The trimmer with my left hand I rest it on my wrist , palm facing up and control the throttle with my middle finger, practice on woods lines and under trees , chainlink and stockade fences! Trimming isn’t work anymore lol

Greg McConner Every lawn guy does it differently and there's not a right way in my opinion. However, we normally do it in the same order you said. But on overgrown properties if we trim after mowing the tall grass lays on top of the cut stuff and looks pretty crappy 😂 and it would probably bug me enough to issue another cut! Hahaha!

JWN Lawn Care Trying to convert me ehh? We'll your trickery won't work on me! I won't fall for that crap! Sthil is good, haha funny. Just messing man! I may consider sthil in the future, not for a blower though because of the valves needing adjusted pretty often. Glad you enjoyed the video 😉👍
@JWNLawnCare
@JWNLawnCare 6 жыл бұрын
Lol you do realise the valve adjustments on their 4-mix equipment is basically nothing, I really don't know why everyone makes such a big deal out of it. It's not like every week you are having to go in to your dealer and spend $500 getting your valves adjusted, its something that gets done like once a year for basically nothing, could probably just do it in line with your service.

it seems to me, that an 'edger' that cuts a grove next to the cement would be a lot more useful than weedeating the edges of the lawn. In general, the mower could perform the same cutting as that weedeater. Then when done with the mower, you could use the weedeater to get any areas that the mower could not reach,

Given the overgrown yard, a lawn vacuum like ke a Billy Goat would suck up those clippings and leave a better result, but it is another professional grade machine, plus transportation of the clippings off site.

I applaud you for your company and hard work. I have one question though. Why didn't you turn the string trimmer on end and edge the walks instead of horizontal and just cut them? Other then that, you did a good job. Don't stop making your company work and even grow...
@wyattslawnservice7212
@wyattslawnservice7212 6 жыл бұрын
Gary Mucher Hey Gary! Thanks for the kind words! To answer your question, we did it somewhat horizontally that time to get the overhanging grass off the sidewalk that the mower may not have picked up and cut. Then when we mowed the second time (yesterday) we flipped the trimmer vertically to edge the sidewalk. We just do that to make it faster the first time and then we edge from there on out. But we also continue to do it horizontally for each of our properties as well to keep the grass from hanging over the sidewalk as the week in between mowings goes on. People in my area tend to prefer that over the straight drop from grass to concrete haha

As tall as that is, I sould mow it in the transport height, way up, give it a slight haircut.. then lower the blades. Withthat mower,, you’re talking 5-6” per cut. You can cut that 3x and edge and blow and be gone ins 30 mios. Also , turn that weekeater vertical in the ‘edging’ fashion... will look alot better. Now it looks scalped homeowner style. But still better. The better you are, the more you charge and seperate yourself fom other companies

You need to invest in a chute blocker. And an edger instead of weed eating. It'll save you a lot of time. If you notice you had to go back and weed eat twice . You edge once and the lines are perfect. The chute blocker we helped you a lot. You're not supposed to eat grass and other people's yard. People will make you more than for free

1 mow, trim, edge, blow them spray is the order...your working harder then you need to... 2 avoid turning onn sidewalks esp with wet grass... 3 to do away with the thatch on top.. cut once 2nd cut lift deck half in h 4 to avoid dropping massive clumps of grass do a complete outline then slow down as you come to the end to let mower blow out the grass under the deck.

Note: the lawn looks damp which will cause the grass to clump, the yard really needed to be mowed with a bagger because of the height of the grass/dandy lions. All edging and trim work should be done first and blown into the grass before cutting thus making less clean up, all and all looks like a great job!

No,they are not different. Does Walmart change pricing depending on part of town? Does McDonalds have a different priced dollar menu in different towns? A buck a min. is great......in 1990. $125/hr here in one of the most depressed areas of the northeast MINIMUM, and I turn down work. Your business has a minimum it must make. And with a 48month Sheffield on a new Vride 2, I can assure you, that you are losing money @ below 90/hr. That is, if you are a licensed business. Oh and 2 people is 2 man hours billed per clock hour. So, both of you, working for 45min is 1.5 man hours. Unless you pulled in 90 bucks (per your admittance of hourly) you lost money.

Wow, well thought out reply. Run a LEGAL business at rates such as the video producer is claiming and see how fast you are in the poorhouse.
