Super Puzzle World 3 (intended solutions)

A legendary glitch puzzle hack from 2010 by LeChuck. Comments and timestamps below and in the pinned comment.

- This hack is very nostalgic for me. I remember playing it back in the days and not getting very far. I also remember playing it layer and totally obliterating some of the levels.
- This time, I wanted to go back and play all the levels the intended way, so I specifically tried not to be too clever. Even then, figuring out the intended starts is near impossible at times, so I had to look up some stuff. - This playthrough also served as a test for (my own fork of) Bizhawk 2.6.3. Prior to this, I've mainly been using Bizhawk 2.3.1. Newer versions of Bizhawk use a different rewinder that has much faster capture speed. Unfortunately, due to some IMO questionable design decisions, the new rewinder is borderline unusable in practice (unless you want 1-frame rewinds, which give you a very bad rewind loading speed), hence I went with my own fork. So far, this has worked great, I even managed to add a feature that allows me to fast-forward while rewinding, which can make rewinding long sections around 10x faster.

Unfortunately, I never realized that this was in fact a hint until someone actually told me that. 3:06 It's funny how these invisible coin block were funny back in the days. 3:47 I remember having a lot of trouble keeping up with this shell, but now it seems really easy. A testament of how much better I got at using tools I guess... 6:36 Screw this muncher-looking key. I'm glad that cheap tricks like this have fallen out of favor. 7:36 I remember drawing some very elaborate paths in these coins. Turns out all you need is the one coin to extend the bottom hole. 11:14 This breakout section is totally out of place, but I did enjoy it as a silly mini game. And I wonder if someone will try to RTA clear it someday... 11:25 ah yes, good ol' custom blocks with broken corners. The breakable blocks are also affected by this, by I tried not to explicitly abuse this here. 15:19 what a neat use of this glitch 16:07 I always did this with p-speed, but doing it with the key is easier and such a cute strat. 18:35 You can fly through here without the flying ? block, but that's not what we're here for. 20:02 I didn't think hitting this block diagonally would be intended, but I couldn't make it back up fast enough if I activate this block with the throw block. 22:32 It's that simple. You don't even need to do the Yoshi+springboard glitch. 32:07 There's a message box with "fail" on the other side of the levels, but showing that off would take a long time. 24:13 Somehow this level is very iconic despite it being kinda bland from a puzzle perspective and trivially solvable by looking in LM. 31:39 This music is a banger. If I ever make a parody of this level, I'll make sure to use this music. 33:27 I had to double check that this is actually intended. You can do some funny stuff with the yellow shell, but it's really this. 33:53 I never got that the title of this level was supposed to be a reference to Asterix and Obelix. Might have something to do with having seen the video in German, not english. 39:11 You can get to this moon once you get climbing glitch, but it turns out to just be a muncher. 43:09 I do miss these "choice" levels whose intended solution ends up being an elaborate way of choosing to get all the items instead of just some of them. 44:08 It's crazy how you're not even requires to grow Yoshi into the wall here. 47:16 It's really cool how this coin snake is used in two different ways. First, to the left and then to the right at 48:18 51:37 There are a few different ways of getting up here, but this one seemed to be the most elaborate one, so I went with it... 56:07 This setup is really inconsistent. Sometimes, the shell just doesn't dupe the glass block, so you can't get the cape. 1:01:49 I remember getting here without the spring board back in the days, and I ended up duping those turn blocks through this wall. Those were good times... 1:05:18 This Luigi asm is a brilliant troll. If you don't have controls for player 2 set up, you simply get stuck here. 1:10:25 This seemed a bit too annoying, but clipping through the ground and ignoring the muncher cross felt like even more of a break. 1:11:24 Suddenly cape kaizo. Now I get why Super Nerv World had a section like this. 1:12:15 Pointless empty long corridor? 1:12:57 This boss fight gets much easier once you realize that the boss can't hit you white it has s. 1:14:04 Now I get why Super Nerv World had bosses that made the screen very dark. 1:20:10 Rip Music 1:21:11 Rip Music again. I played this without music, so I didn't notice stuff like this unless the music actually crashed. 1:29:52 I had to look up the solution for this part. I always did the Yoshi+springboard glitch here, which leaves you with piles of additional p-switches. It's a bit weird that this glitch is used in an earlier level but not here. 1:33:13 Giving Bowser extra hits just makes this fight drag on for way too long. 1:34:42 Suddenly items abuse music. 1:36:48 I love this strat where you just jump into the clown car to get s from the propeller. Shoutouts to nathanisbored for coming up with this one.

This was a great watch-through... lots of interesting design in this hack, it really stands up to to the test of time, haha. Learned a lot of cool stuff, but for some reason the thing that stuck with me most is that you can pick up a shell and then get a star and not have it get destroyed. I'm probably lifting that mechanic for a puzzle cave I'm making, haha.

Wow my video actually made it to the creators :D Re: Wiggy's Castle: Amazing how well that triangle slide lines up, huh. Also, nobody was ever gonna figure that out lmao. Gabbing the p-switch inside the chuck just didn't feel intended and once you have the cape you can just kill the pokey with a belly-slide.
