Seeing that VF Commodore (Chevy SS) made me smile. Commonly seen here in Australia and they are quite expensive here as well. Hell, the SV6s (v6 varient) goes for between 20,000 and 30,000 Australian. Most Aussies would agree with me.

Randy, I own a 2023 Ford Maverick and I love it. It is a 2.0 turbo All wheel drive it has an 8 speed automatic transmission with the 7th and 8th gear both is overdrive gears so, it gets 22 mpg in city and 31 mpg on highway. It has the 4K tolling package so it can toll up to 4,000 pds, and has a built in break controller in the dash. Yes the gear shifter is a little odd and you will get used to it but the nice thing about that shifting arrangement is that the following things will happen if you are in drive and turn the engine off it will put itself in to Park for you or if you have it in gear and open the driver door it will as well put you in Park by itself. So, you cannot leave your truck with it being left in gear. And Yes, they are hard to get for Ford cannot get ahead of producing them faster than the orders for them, for in today market you would be surprised to the price that is on them. And for what they are they do urun quick.

I have a 2017 SS with the t56. I love it! It's a sleeper. Very few people know what they are. I think there are two reasons they didn't sell well. AFAIK Chevrolet never advertised them. The other reason is that they were assembled in Australia and imported. The car is a rebadged Holden. It's a relatively rare car. As far as I can tell only around 40,000 were imported.

Holden commodore SS was actually a very popular car Randy, especially the VF model which the Chevy SS is based on.. problem was that GM never advertised the SS correctly in the U.S .. they didn’t want it to be a hit as they were planning on shutting Holden down.

RIP Holden, this was pretty much the last of our industry over here. The SS abd HSV models (performance abd kuxyry over SS) are hokding their value really well. The VE/VF series drove amazing compared with their predecessors 👍

I drive the same car in Australia. A Holden GTS HSV Commodore not sure if Chevy rebadged the SS from the enhanced HSV (Holden special vehicle) or the standard model. Australian fuel prices are similar to the states and yeah they like a drink.

You are totally correct with your dialogue about paying just debt. You finance it, you pay for it. However, do you remember when the American people bailed out the banks and bailed out the car manufacturers because they were supposedly too big to fail. Then during COVID-19 when Americans were hurting, the car manufacturers jacked up the cost of cars and even now car prices are too high. We bailed out the banks, now interest rates are too high. While you are totally correct, things like that makes it hard to feel sorry for car manufacturers and banks

That turbo lag is what made it 8 seconds to 60. It’s not a good truck. I, frankly, wouldn’t want anything modern unless it had a manual. All these new automatics with the computers and stuff is just an accident waiting to happen. 10 speed? Why so many? Does it really make a difference? Unfortunately the only trucks left with a manual from the factory are the Tacoma and the Gladiator

Those SS sedans were some of the first cars that GM made that had automatic parallel park and would park itself by backing into spots as well. When I worked at the Chevrolet dealership back then they didn't sell many at all but it was most certainly an underrated sports sedan. GM shipped them from Australia as rebranded Holden Commodores. RIP Holden

Thank you for bringing the great content as always! I bought a Maverick XLT FX4 last November and from order date to receiving was 13 months. Now with paying MSRP and some awesome financing that you won't see today, I like it but feel like you get what you paid for. It's a cheap 4 x 4 truck with a little 2.0 turbo engine that meets my needs and gets 28 mpg around town. Will it last? Time will tell but I'd rather have a bigger engine minus the turbo.. And I agree with you 💯 on the credit history stuff as it took me 30 years of doing f'd up stuff to now being top tier 800+ credit score and honestly, life is better when you make good decisions! 🇺🇲✌️
