Just a heads up games like Darius, and a few others will not work on the system, and the mortal kombat games run terribly slow on it.

The fact that it emulates the sound so well is definitely the biggest hangup I have on other emulation like this so it's refreshing to see a company make something that sounds and plays like the real thing. Now if only the controllers weren't made with such cheap plastic. Definitely something I'm interested in to use for arcade games.

The UK version runs very moody depending on what games are getting run. Arcade and NES games seem to play fine enough as long as the save states don't get over used as that can send the console a bit haywire at times. SNES games take a day and age to save and load, which can be frustrating when trying to get through hard bits on games. Even having the second control pad plugged in or not can seemingly affect the performance of some games. Burger Time is horrendously broken regardless of what tips and tricks used, broken to the point of being unplayable and Double Dragon is so slow it's barely moving at times. It's a horrendously flawed machine on one side of the scale but excellent regarding some other games like Final Fight 3, the Mega Man series and some others that run smoothly enough. It's well worth the low asking price even at full retail price. Just don't like the gushing community love getting poured out and the clear disparity between the US model and the UK model. Assuming there really is a performance difference between them. The control pads won't last either and it's very hard to source replacements for this despite being USB pads. Still worth the money but still a deeply flawed product that isn't getting anywhere near the bad points getting highlighted considering the abuse AtGames got for their Mega Drive systems that were actually pretty good. It's an upside down world we now live in.

I was very apprehensive when they announced the Retrocade after last years Generations, that one was very disappointing. I've been searching out anyone's videos or previews of the Retrocade and glad I found your video and Defunct Games preview of the console have alleviated quite a few of my concerns. The Super Retrocade is definetly back on my must buy list for this year! Keep up the awesome work!

I've had my Super Retrocade since June 2018 and it has worked like a champ. I've loaded HUNDREDS of classic MAME arcade games with artwork and some NES console games on SD cards. Since I'm not a fan of D-pad controllers, I built a control panel with a pair of Sanwa JLF-8YT USB joysticks and buttons using tutorials on KZbin. The only criticism I have is that it won't play any games that used vector graphics. Even though they're in MAME it just won't play them for some reason. But other than that it's a powerhouse and I couldn't be happier with it. Thanks for the review my friend, good stuff indeed!

This looks like a nice console. Kind of like a more basic Retropi but that can be a good thing for some gamers since maybe they just want something simple and ready to play. Price seems pretty good too, i may need to pick it up when it comes to market. Glad to see Retrobit improve on the Generations since they generally make good products, but that thing was just clearly rushed.

It is very basic and customization is none existent. I've had ZERO experience with the generation but heard bad things. So it's nice that people are happy with the way this preforms. They really put their ear to the ground and listened.

I think some games are missing in the review. In the game list at 11.58 it says Knights of the Round, but I don´t think that was on the list. There were also others I didn´t remember seeing in the video. Maybe that list was for another edition with a different list of games.

please please please ! do a review in testing all the USB gamepads that you have, on the Super Retro-cade to check for compatibility. Arcade sticks to Pads, anything that you can test. the tiny machine looks awesome but i can't say the same about its controllers :/ thanks.

Works fine with the Retro-Bit Generations controllers, no go on wired 8Bitdo Arcade Stick, Works with Hyperkin USB 6 button Genesis controller(Needs button remapping though), No go on wired xbox 360 or 3rd part 360 style controllers. Ive tried a few more and nothing really works great other than other Retro-Bit controllers.

All they had to do for the rotating games is use directional fire buttons like smash TV on snes, since the button layout is ideal for that. Poor oversight. Triggers could have been used for whatever other functions were needed. Capcom saw smart to offer Forgotten worlds with this option on PSP and dual analog on the other systems that have a port of capcom classics compilations. SNK has made their arcade games dual stick on their 40th anniversary.

Just makes me wonder what games will work? I mean, kawaks, final burn alpha, games like gradius 2 arcade, Do Don Pachi and the slew of bullet hell shooters etc. Wonder what Mame packs youd have to use. 0.149 or is it just all roms work good? That would be pretty crazy if it is as easy as download roms, put them all in one folder and the shit just works. Keeping things organized would be a mess, but at the same time, it would be a lot easier for the novice to start getting familiar with emulation if they feel intimidated by the retropie.

There is still a TON of testing to be done. I REALLY wish it read subfolders but it doesnt. Still pretty good for not being an intended purpose. I did notice some versions of a game run better than others (I.E the US, UK, ASIA, WORLD) . With the 4 player games I use the two player versions as they run better.

I was trying to add games on an sd card using linux. While the order appears correct on the card, the super retrobit seems to scramble the order. I am curious how to fix this. Doing a format a card and uploading from windows doesn't seem to be a problem.

Yeah, the Gen title's been in a retropie & Everdrive for more than a year and worked fine. I found that anything that wasn't .bin for Genesis didn't play nice. Changing the game to title.bin seemed to solve the problem, but still no GBC.

Try plugging in control pad 2 and leaving it plugged in even if you're only playing a 1p game. Seems to help for some unfathomable reason. Sorted out Crude Buster as well more or less, even though it still ran a bit iffy. I have a feeling that this may only be affecting the UK model due to all the gushing KZbinrs are doing over this product in the US. Either that or KZbinrs are telling lies. No one seems to be talking about this product's flaws. Still worth the money for Final Fight 3 alone as that runs smoothly and costs a fortune for an original SNES cartridge.

RewindMike yes that was one of the complaints with the generations, originally it was supposed to but I guess in the rush they drop that feature which was a shame because as bad as it was at least that would have been something good. Yes it turned out to be some proprietary connector that only looked like USB. I never got the generations but I watched a lot of videos about it and then was glad that I didn't get it ha ha Ha, this one at least does seem worth what they're asking and they'll still not likely I'll get one who knows? One may fall into my possession at some point LOL.

It was awesome that they cared enough about the product to reach out and ask ME for feedback on it. Although I must saw they hit everything on the head right out of the box. Not bothering me at all. No sub folders can be used. When you pop in the card it automatically detects the games in the folder and displays them in a generic fashion. ( Remember, it wasn't meant for this use. So no fault on the company) I'm going to see if maybe I can attach a screenshot to the games. At least that MAY help. For now I suggest using different card for different libraries? maybe??

The 2 versions of Mercs are different, the megadrive version has extra characters and a story mode whilst the arcade version has much better graphics and sound. The megadrive version is the better game in my opinion.

All the game play in this video was captured from the HDMI out on the device. I did that so people can judge the image for themselves. I personally didn't notice any. and the sync was fine through the HDMI out. I didn't test the composite and can't comment on that.

I couldn't get N64, Tubrografx or any CD based games to work. I tried my damnedest though! and there's wasnt any noticeable lag and I was even feeding it through a capture device 😉

The controller is actually decent. Not top of the line but it was comfortable to hold and use for extend game sessions.
