Great overview. It is nice to see that there are affordable options for anyone just thinking about getting into the hobby. I think sometimes people forget it's about playing and enjoying games and there really is no wrong answer to how you do it. However, a good experience over a poor one makes the difference. For eighty bills, I think you have a good one here.

Yes you can and it’s not a silly question at all. I have been using my Genesis wireless controller with it and it works great

It would be more tempting for me if they added a Sega Master System cartridge slot although I know very basic Master System to Genesis cartridge adaptors exist that should theoretically let you play Master System cartridge games on this thing. (I'm not talking about the big 1st party Sega Master System to Genesis peripheral from back in the day, I know that wouldn't fit on this, just a basic pass-through adapter that isn't wider than a Genesis cartridge.)

Really good point. They do make different modern day adapters but I don’t own one myself so I can’t test that. Theoretically as long as the adapter will fit it should work. Excellent point and I appreciate the comment.

Looking good overall! How was the lag though? That can sometimes be the make or break element of these machines. I’m assuming by now they pretty much have that reduced down to a non-factor, but you never know!

I absolutely agree that can be a deal breaker but happy to say it’s not a factor. I didn’t notice it at all.

Visually everything looked great. Did you ever have a chance to test it with Street Fighter 2 or Mortal Kombat to see how well the controller responds?

Hello! How does it look when played through the AV cable on a CRT TV? Is the image output just like the original console? I would love to try it since I have an old CRT that's perfect for retro games but having HDMI output is very nice too. As long as this outputs to the original resolution and doesn't have noticeable input lag when used on a CRT TV, I would be fine getting it

It looks great on the CRT and I haven’t noticed any input lag. The output image looks great and has a strong signal. I can’t tell the difference on the crt

Update: I just got this console and it looks really nice (just like in the video). It also has the switch for 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio so that's great. The only thing that I wasn't aware of is that it doesn't include the AV cable, only the HDMI, but that's okay because I already had a backup one so I can test it on a CRT TV. The game I ordered still hasn't arrived yet, but I will comment on that soon.
