It's actually possible to beat this scenario without resorting to the Dummy Plug. 1st, equip the EVA01 with a Super Repair Kit and an Alloy-Z. Then have Rei cast Exhaust/Abate on Bardiel twice to get rid of it's AT field and lessen it's ATK power. During your turn, always cast Flash on Shinji and Rei before attacking... And when Shinji takes a lot of damage, use the repair kit... When Bardiel's HP is reduced to 60%, the scenario shifts to Shin Getter. this method saves you 40k worth of repairs.

They do a sort-of-callback to this in SRW V. When you defeat Bardiel, Shinji (who is Rebuild Shinji) makes Unit-01 enter its Pseudo-evolved state. Shin Getter reacts to this by basically poofing Bardiel away with the power of Getter Rays while leaving Asuka intact, so she never loses her eye.

Alex Nunes well you can't win with eva alone. The events occur regardless, but if you reduce the angel's health to a certain level, you can trigger the event without being shot down. In this game in particular, the evas cost an arm and a leg to repair, and the tem ray circuit reduces repair cost to almost nothing, so if you are too poor to be cool...

They are all the same, all súper robots and real robots are mazingers with the same evolution potential so no point on compere them as stablished on mazinger Zero manga, getters figths against stronger enemys so they need more power, if the probabilities moves to the evas figth against more powerfull enemys they too will have more power, at the end the mazingers allways win

Alternatively, you could do what most people playing this game are likely to do with Eva 01, and slap a Tem-Ray Circuit on him/her/it. Or massively overlevel both to the point Rei has BROKEN SACRIFICE. Or a lot of different things. Though your method is usable to stop from taking the massive Eva repair cost.
