🤔🤔We can use solar energy in night without using battery .....we need to just replace batteries by compressed air tanks ....in sunny days , solar panels will compress air in tank and at night we can use it to run alternators .....very simple ....now Elon Musk is also using compressed air battery .....

Nice concept. I have a few suggestions you could try. First, put the tire back on the rim. This would give the wheel a lot more momentum. This is why flywheels concentrate their weight on the perimeter. Second, I would add short interior blades to the rim so that the jet nozzle strikes them at a 90° angle rather than relying strictly on friction. You could also add a second nozzle depending on your supply. Keep up the good work!!!

I wish you could have demonstrated the possible watt output. I'd love to hear that information. I was just talking to my friend today about using the Tesla water turbine design but with air pressure. An hour later and I see this video and showed him. They said about Tesla's design that if the discs were 3 meters and it could go 50,000 rpm then that would produce mach 13. Could u make yours with more interior discs? And what if you used the current design and tapered the air flow nozzle more? But you could mark a point on the external part of the external part of the wheel and then use a speed detection device for the mph and try to figure out the watt out put. I wish I had this info. I'd like to build a similar machine.

I have about 5 or 6 other videos on this type of turbine, but not in a playlist right now, so you would have to look through the uploads, but there's a lot more explanation. I changed the name to a 'Rotating Flow Turbine'. I would expect the output to be similar to a Tesla. Thanks for commenting!

You should try building a replica of 1800's John Keely's self running hydraulic motor with useful output balanced flywheel. It had central rotating 4 way valve that produced 50lbs water hammer water pressure. Unit was seen running sawing wood, after alignment timing. patent application readable and can see sample model on You tube video. Also in new York years ago , there was a self running air compressor mounted on tank. It initially was hand turned until gauge had enough pressure in tank.40lbs output air ran air cylinder attached to crank on main compressor shaft keeping it going .The balanced spoke type heavy rim flywheel had extra energy coming from machined 3 parts vortex tube that heated air chamber insulated for higher pressure output. Tubes are purchasable or read back issue science mechanics magazine article on home made adjustable units with various washer sizes for hot and cold.

Can we say this shares a similar principle of operation with Tesla’s disc turbine? For this design we have two disc surface.
@doubleMinnovations
@doubleMinnovations 3 жыл бұрын
The rotor disc in this experiment extracts energy from the medium by friction as it moves to the center outlet, like a Tesla disc. I think blades may work better, perhaps. It's different in design than a Tesla turbine, in that the whole housing turns. The Tesla turbine has a stationary housing that a rotor spins inside of. Thanks for watching!
@philoso377
@philoso377 3 жыл бұрын
@@doubleMinnovations You have a point moving envelop vs stationary. If we look at the operating principle, both source feed fluid from the circumference, drag along the intermediate surface, disc, before exit the center.
@doubleMinnovations
@doubleMinnovations 3 жыл бұрын
Without the moving 'envelop', like in a Tesla Turbine, the greatest frictional losses are going to be along the circumference. Where the greatest pressure will be. With this design we eliminate all that, except for a friction loss around the nozzle tube. Thanks for your interest.
@philoso377
@philoso377 3 жыл бұрын
@@doubleMinnovations yes Tesla design has frictional loss on stationary circumference. He doesn’t say we need a small gap between circumferences of wall and disks. Proper inlet porting can reduces friction by separating curved wall to disk edge. On the other hand moving wall is not without loss. The internal high pressure pipe gets in the way of vortex flow, is a challenged efficiency problem to resolve.

Wouldn't you get more torque if you had some mini blades on the ID of wheel rim? Right now air is blowing against a curved surface.
@doubleMinnovations
@doubleMinnovations 2 жыл бұрын
I wanted to see how this would work without any interior blades. The rotating flow of air is moving against the interior of the turbine, and that friction is what is making it turn. An interesting thing; is that the rotating flow of air has to loose its rotational velocity in order to move towards the center exhaust. Or; more entering air needs increase the pressure inside of it to push it towards the exhaust, which would cause a greater increase in friction against the rotor surfaces, which would cause more torque. Then also; if the pressure increases inside the turbine, it would cut down the amount of air entering. -so I think that would cause some self-governing of the rpms. A lot to think about. Great question!

The difference is; that in a Tesla turbine the housing doesn't rotate so there is a greater surface area of resistance loss along the circumference of the housing and rotor. In mine there is only the resistance loss of a small nozzle tube. Thanks for your comment.

@@doubleMinnovations so think about it,, the air in tesla turbine does it make work on the housing? If so it will heat up, and that heat will be reused by new air coming in. But it will cool as the air expands from the nozzle. In your turbine the space there air can go to the center is large and therefore air can go directly out without doing work.

i am a very interested novice wondering what is the torque produced for a given input air pressure and volume? For example, how long could you turn a generator with the tank you were using and at what PSI?
@doubleMinnovations
@doubleMinnovations 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Bob, this is the first air version I have made; so the short answer is, I don't know. I have not done much testing on it. The tank size I used in the video was 5 gallons, charged to about 115 psi. Like any motor/turbine, the load placed on it would determine the output, minus the losses. I have made other versions that used water. The one in this video: "kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZnIkqGVhpiEosk" had similar torque and rpm as my drill set on low speed. It was hooked up to a garden hose, at about 40psi. My original plan was for use of such turbines, was in low head hydroelectric. Future projects.😉

@@doubleMinnovationsThanks for your kind response. At the full speed shown in your video: 5 gallons @100psi lasted jhow long? and produced approximately what kind of torque...anything one might consider useful? I am exploring AIR DRIVEN turbine motors. Perhaps I should limit myself to piston engines if I want torque, but the simplicity and reliability of a turbine intrigues me.
@doubleMinnovations
@doubleMinnovations 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Bob; like I wrote before, I haven't done much testing on it to answer your questions; sorry. Just what you see in the video. An air turbine or motor needs a steady supply of pressurized air for much useful work. A pressurized tank will immediately start to drop in pressure, and will slow the turbine. It lasted long enough for the video, so I didn't have to have a noisy air compressor running. It's simple enough to build, and inexpensive. You could just build one and do the testing you want.
