If that’s the car I think it is, it’s without doubt one of the craziest sleepers in the world. It was in hot rod magazine like 10 years ago, with all kinds of slick shit. The cage was built to sit as close to the roof and pillars as possible to stay out of view, rear seat was retained to hide the mini tub, carpet hiding the fact that the front and rear subframes were tied together, and the LS2 under the hood has twin Rotrex superchargers with the air to water intercoolers tucked in each fender, along with a dual fuel setup; one cell/pumps/injector set for regular 93, and a completely separate set of cell/pumps/injectors filled with CAM2 race fuel. This thing is nuts and put down 1100 at the time. Favorite nova ever.

@@spraym88 thanks man. I drooled over this car when I was a kid. I’m not a muscle guy, but a build like this is too unique not to be respected. Dude even has harnesses setup on the factory bench seat, there was so much thought and imagination that went into keeping this car’s true identity a secret. The ONLY giveaway from the outside is the tires.

❤ My 1st car driving at age 15 was a Nova Turbo. I drove 14 miles to school one way. As a 15 yr old girl, I drove like a NASCAR driver. I grew up on a farm. My neighbors would call my parents to tell them I drove too fast. Lol... how could I NOT drive fast! The good Ole 80's.

@@spraym88 I had a 1970 Pontiac lemans it too was a sleeper . It didn’t take long for people to know not to pull up beside me at a red light and rev their engine for a race challenge. Lol I miss the old girl . I’m looking for another one .

Hahaha that's Dru Diesner, he had his car on the KZbin Drive channel. Twin turbo LS with 1200Hp at the wheels. Love the look of that car and love the power even more. Glad to see Dru still has it to this day.

I saw that Nova on KZbin and thought this one might be the same! Its just a hoot seeing this “showdown”! I have a ‘71 Nova SS clone with a modified L78 396. Mine looks and sounds like a hot rod though with a tubbed rear end with big meats and loud big cam exhaust. This Nova is just a riot though and probably a daily driver to boot.

My interest perked when I saw the tires but what really got my juices flowing was when he was shifting gears at the light to get ready and when he revved the engine before he took off. You could easily see the shimmy in the frame from the tranny torque and the shift down in the front end as the linkage tightened. If I had been at the light and was thinking about racing that piece of junk, as soon as I saw that front end shift I would have been like, “NOPE!”

Even the old guy on the bike knew this was going to be fun to watch. (i am old too so i know). When i grew up in the 60s-70s sleepers had one thing in mind, winning bets $ and pinks! They did not care how flashy their cars looked. He even fooled them with original paint, we called it grandma green.

There was a full article on this car about 15 years ago in Hot Rod or Car Craft. One of the legit street driven turbo/procharged LS sleepers with nearly 1000 hp when he adds race gas and turns up the boost.

I had a friend of mine that I grew up with. When we became teenagers in the early 90s he got a 69' Nova I believe it was. This dude was one of these guys born with a socket rench in his hand. He came from a long line of mechanics and he was an excellent mechanic himself at a young age. He fixed up that Nova with a roll cage inside of it and nitrous canister and a ticked out 350 small block, painted it candy apple red with a black racing stipe going down the hood, the trunk and the roof. It was gorgeous! He didn't have it long before he wrecked it while hot dogging it one night and that roll cage probably saved his life. Many years later, he was married and with kids. I went to visit him one day, hadn't seen him in years! He had a model of a 69' Nova that looked identical to his old Nova on the fireplace mantle, it was like a shrine to that car. Unfortunately, that friend of mine, my best friend growing up, is passed on now. RIP Chris Baily, you were a good man, sir! A real man!

I rode shotgun in one of these back in the 90's, and let me tell you something, brother, the horse power and drifting capabilities of the Nova are insane! The way that POWER clicked in after drop shifting for higher rpms at the gear shift connected behind the steering wheel, I bout passed out from the G-force for a second! Hell on wheels.....

I worked with a guy around that same time that had one of those Pontiac Vegas (I think it was called an Astre), the one with the unsleeved-cylinder aluminum block 4-banger. He dropped a 1969 Poncho 350ci with quiet duals in it (with a crowbar and soap, probably) and supplemented his income quite handsomely on the weekends.
