My friend made a few rods back in the 80's for himself. We went on a trip to a small stram with inordinately big fish. Not nearly as tight as what you guys took on, but narrow and brushy just the same. He pulled out a 6' rod he made for his kid. It was the first time I saw the bow and arrow cast. That little rod was deadly accurate and perfect in that situation. Hats off to you for time well spent with your lad!

Sounds like a great adventure! And bow and arrow casting such a finely made 6’ rod must have been a dream! Thanks for sharing that fun memory, and for checking out ours. Cheers!

Right when the fly hit the water! That was one of my favorites from the day as well!

Great video fellas! Love small stream fishing and there’s nothing better than flinging a dry fly into the perfect spot. To then watch it get instantly inhaled by a wild trout!

I couldn’t agree more! Such a good time. One of those days when the size of fish doesn’t matter one bit 😁

A total blast! Being outside is great, being outside catching fish in small water, EVEN BETTER! Thanks for checking it out 👊

There is something magic about a quick dry fly eat. When a fish eats the fly before the droplets from the fly splatting haven't even returned to the river's surface...it's something special.

Great video Gilbert…what rods length/weight were you and your son using here?
@GilbertRowley16 күн бұрын
Thanks Ryan! We were fishing a 9’ 4wt. A shorter rod between, something between 7-8 feet would have worked well also.

Gilbert, loved the video...has me jonesing for my beloved Virginia mountain streams in the spring. Are you and your son using the 10' 2wts? I love that Umpqua chest pack too. I keep buying other packs and coming back to it

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! We were fishing a 9' 4wt on this little stream. Works great, especially since we are used to fishing much longer rods most of the time. I hope this Spring the fishing there treats you well!
