There's one thing to keep in mind 3DS version lacking an adventure mode a la Subspace Emissary. Yes, the rise of video sharing was the main downfall, but at the same time, we're talking about the 3DS. It's a powerful little handheld for sure, but it's nowhere as powerful as current gen consoles, so it wouldn't be able to run an adventure mode, even a Melee style adventure mode, alongside Smash Run and the other content. By all rights, the 3DS version is basically the bare bones version of Smash 4, which is impressive considering how much stuff is crammed in it regardless.

For Glory doesn't appeal to competitive players. Flat stages like FD and the Omega stages doesn't make a match more skill based, it only encourages the use of characters with a better ground game, like Little Mac. Stages like Battle Field, Dreamland and Yoshi's Island are the stages that appeal to competitive players because the utilize both ground and air game. For Glory just blindly follows the stereotype that FD no items Fox only is the most skillful thing possible, which is dead wrong.

I absolutely love that there is a For Glory Mode. I play that all the time. I was once only 30-20. Then 34-26. Now I'm 86-45. But I do admit some of my opponents weren't very good, but I had beaten some pretty tough and competitive players too. The game just feels so much more rewarding when you win in For Glory Mode and then of course there are other modes offline that are really cool!

I gotta save up for this game, my brother and I have the Super Smash Bros Brawl, and are totally addicted to it, we used to have it when i was only seven, then he sold it...(So much for the teen and up warning) we recently got it back, and we totally loved it. Can't wait to get the 3ds one!!!!

Oh, I didn't realize Target Blast was like Angry Birds until now. lol. I still like this game: one thing I've been trying to do is get all the custom moves for all the characters. The roulette mechanic in Classic Mode makes getting all the moves a pain, though. Great review! Very detailed.

Funny thing is, I actually enjoy playing with the 3DS more than any of the previous controllers. It's a good thing that the Wii U version allows you to use your 3DS as a controller, since that's pretty much the only control style I'll use.

I'm loving the game but yeah, my hands cramp something awful after only a few hours of play. I'm really looking forward to the Wii U version, and especially getting that GCN adapter. Here's hoping it's presentation and option will be even more robust. I'm a little disappointed that items are either on or off. I like to play with them roughly half the time, but I prefer to play with them set to very low, that way they're not too terribly invasive. Also there's no special matches. Has for physics changes I've noticed combo attacks now push the user back so opponent doesn't have to Hitstun Shuffle (called D.I. by fans) out of them. It's kind of weird and does it with everything that hit's multiple times, like Bowser's Fire Breath. Also all rapid hit combo attacks, like Fox's kicking move, now end with a stronger launching hit, as soon as you stop pressing or holding the button. I can say with confidence though, that it plays pretty different from Brawl as well, but probably leaning more towards it than it does Melee. All and all, pretty amazing for a Portable Smash bros. and surprising easy to control. I was expecting game play to be much supplier on my end, given my less then stellar experience with Kirby Fighters Deluxe. I guess it goes to show you that it's all about who's making it.

Hitstun shuffling is SDI not DI. They are completely different mechanics, in fact if you did your research you would know there is no DI in Smash4, only Vectoring

Also Vectoring, is just a term to distinguish the new Directional Influence mechanic from the old. Again a fan term, and I really don't care for those. Adventure mode doesn't deserve to be removed from the smash series. It's the Subspace emissary that's supposed to be the only mode that should be removed from the series because of what Sakuri has just said.

Well, portability is a very big thing for many people. I'm sure that a lot of people will get both games, then play the 3DS version on the go and the Wii U version at home. Any custom content they make on one version can then be copied over to the other, so whatever play style they prefer can follow them.

Something I find extremely frustrating about SSB3DS is the amount of characters who have access to a counter. The active frames on these abilities are so forgiving to the user that it seems like it is never safe to attack them. It's an extremely frustrating game mechanic that was tolerable on an extremely small number of characters, but the mechanic is now far too widespread.

Wow you really seem salty. You seriously must suck at Smash. Counters are extremely easy to punish because they lag if missed you can read your opponent and strike back. The counter itself is only as strong as the move you use against it. There's nothing wrong with counters..

I can't help but notice the 3ds version graphics to be very dirty? I am disappointed how it turned out. It's fun, but Sonys ps vita with Playstation all stars was even superior than the ps3 in graphics.

Dirty? Have you even played the game in person? The games graphics look amazing on 3DS and it runs at a smooth 60 FPS. It doesn't look nearly as good on KZbin as it does in person.

If that's really the reason why Sakurai didn't create an adventure mode this time then fuck they should stop making games in general. People are going to post videos of games anyway. Hell why is that even stopping them? Who cares? They even ruined their own new roster of characters by revealing them all before the game even came out and that was one of the coolest parts of the new smash games. Series don't go down hill when people ruin a story line, they go down because the creators slowly stop caring. Not saying the game is bad at all, but they really took out a lot of the cool features that the old games had just because of small skepticism. Nintendo needs to stop watering down their best franchises and do what they used to do back in the GC days and try new things.

Not having a story mode because of let's plays is such a stupid overreaction! I never watch let's plays to a game I plan on playing because I know it will spoil the whole thing for me! For exemple, I preordered "The Evil Within", and, right now, I won't even watch a trailer of it because I know it might contain some kind of spoilers. Let's plays don't ruin the "surprise" and saying there's no story/adventure mode because of it is just a lazy excuse!
