My personnal advice : I think it'd be cool if there was an option in brawl where we could set the language for every quote, for example in the sound test, you'd choose your quote, and have a "language" thingy and be able to save that language as default. It'd be cool for the 5-4-3-2-1-game countdown, having it in different languages :p I liked a lot Fox's voice in Japanese, and Jiggly's voice was pretty cool for some of his quotes (such as his final smash one).

Ike's, Lucario's and MK's voices sound much more badass in Japanese. So cool!
@FlameUser648 жыл бұрын
Here's something interesting: Lucario's quote in the English version is, oddly enough, a direct translation of the original Japanese. Aura in the original Japanese version of the Pokémon series is referred to as "hadou", meaning "pulse" or "wave". For example, the move Aura Sphere is Hadoudan, meaning "Pulse Bomb", in Japanese. Other than that difference, it's translated word for word (aside from the obvious changes in sentence structure between languages). Hadou = pulse/wave (Japanese term for "Aura" in Pokémon) no = particle indicating possession, somewhat similar to apostrophe-'s' in English. (So "Hadou no chikara" is "Aura's power") chikara = power/force/might miyo (or is it miyou (with an extended "o" vowel sound)? I'm not sure) = imperative form of the verb meaning see/watch/observe/witness/behold. The Japanese name of Aether, Ten Kuu, simply means "sky" or "heavens". Dai Ten Kuu means "Great Sky". The Japanese version of Pit's "You're not ready yet!" taunt actually does not mean anything remotely similar to the English version of the taunt. "Mada mada!" means, roughly translated, "It's not enough!" Fox's "Here I come!" taunt was "Let's go!" in the original Japanese.

psychokinrazalon Not when you generalize and crap on everything American. In this video I've seen crappy American AND Japanese voice actors. To generalize and assume is nothing short of retardation. Spare me your idiotic bias please. Your kind does not judge on fair terms, only on bias.
@CrustySaviour10 жыл бұрын
I find Japanese voices better because they are good at conveying emotions and especially good at making epic battlecries, plus there's my personal rule about the original voices being better than the dub, regardless of whether it is from Japan or USA. Now that I have voiced my opinion in a formal and constructive manner, are you satisfied?
@BlueCatzi10 жыл бұрын
Halvard Andreas Bringe Japanese and American's at their apex of voice acting are equally as good. If you are strictly going on an anime basis then overall Japanese are better. If you are judging acting in general then they are equal when it comes to their ability to act. As an aspiring voice actor I need to be able to tell the good from the bad, and there were some terrible Japanese and American voice actors in this video but they were good in this video as well. I find Japanese yelling irritating because it sounds like nails on the chalkboard sometimes. I'm not going to slap a bias on myself as you are and always think the original better because that is certainly not the case. Unless you speak Japanese you cannot firmly say they convey emotion better due to you never being able to speak it better, a yell here or there does not make anyone a good actor, especially if you cannot understand what they are saying. Overall, when you get the apex of Japanese and American voice actors they tie out simply due to having perfected their talent. I've seen it on both sides of the spectrum. Due to my native language being English, it's always easier to tell the bad English VA's from the good ones, but there are some Japanese voice actors that need to kill themselves for ever thinking they could be VA's and same to some American voice actors. I judge based on talent and ability, not on preference for a language. That's my main criticism of damned Japanese weaboo purists.
@psychokinrazalon10 жыл бұрын
Bhastet Kurza "I find Japanese yelling irritating because it sounds like nails on the chalkboard sometimes." Yeah, totally not biased at all there. *sarcasm* And I find American yelling irritating because it sounds like a dying animal sometimes. "That's my main criticism of damned Japanese weaboo purists." Dude, just shut up. Some people just want things in their native language so they can get a glimpse of that culture's dialect, mannerisms, inflections, etcetera. That said, Brawl's voice acting is superb on both sides, unlike anything 4kids ever chewed up and shat out. As for me, I don't care so much about voices as I do about names, text, and imagery. I want games/anime with their original titles and content with the only real difference being that everything is translated, all the while everything remains the exact same context-wise. For example, I prefer Mother 2 over Earthbound because the former is Shigesato Itoi's true vision. I prefer the original dub of Yu-Gi-Oh! because, as stated above, 4kids is shit. People just want things in their original form, and the argument of whether one or the other is superior in regards to talent is entirely subjective since people have different tastes/standards. In the end, just be happy that there's more people openly embracing Japanese culture then there was several decades ago.

Anyway that's one thing MVC3 definitely had down: COMPLETE control over character voices! You can set each character individually to Eng or Jap. For the most part I set all Capcom fighters to J and all Marvel to E ofc. Why can't Nintendo give us that option? I would set Fox to J in a heartbeat, but keep all the pokemon on Eng.

It’s a matter of preference and not trying to rely on one style of voice acting too much.
@MrFavorite0112 жыл бұрын
Huh. I'm actually surprised. I came here to see all the Japanese voice praising and I actually see people who like the English voices. I mean, I don't have a problem with the JP voices, but I just usually see people overrating it much like, "OMAIGAWD THE JAPANESE ARE SO AMAZING AND NOTHING ELSE MATTERS!". They're cool, but kind of monotonous after a couple voices. English is cool too, but really corny sometimes. If we could choose who has the English vs Japanese voices, that would be awesome.
