Super Smash Bros. Meta Crystal Remix (accurate) (MIDI link)

There are a bunch of Meta Crystal remixes on KZbin, but it seems every one of them is based on an old, highly inaccurate MIDI with a completely wrong melody.
Now, I went and by ear I did my best to transcribe the song accurately. It's a very eccentric song, and very noisy, so it was kind of a painstaking process, but I feel it paid off.
I actually was messing around with the debug mode, and realized that the songs when played through it have no reverb, so that made it easier for me to distinguish the notes. The backing guitar was the hardest part since the Smash Bros 64 guitar sample is very grating and noisy. I think it's about right though.
Make sure you stick around until the end. There's a neat little surprise on the last loop of the song.

Yesss, about time a mix like this came along. And you left the KLONG KLONG KLONGs in, heck, those were practically the accompanying percussion of the original! It's in that nebulous old-timesy fuzzy-guitar-synth territory, as the video description notes. Reminds me of Miracle Matter's theme in that sense, a lot of old instruments (especially the N64, what with cartridges and not CDs) are difficult to 'clarify' into modern sound samples it seems, making them very tough to arrange. And K64 was ALSO from HAL, heck.

Yeah. It's a shame everyone bases their remixes on that very old, inaccurate MIDI instead of properly transcribing the notes themselves. But it is a pretty hard some to pinpoint since the notes don't have much flow, and it's very "noisy". I guess it's supposed to sound "metallic" or something. I guess that's what they were going for.

This is an incredible remix, and I daresay that this rivals the original. What makes this song so great and catchy is that it's flamboyant as well as somewhat terrifying. As far as I'm concerned, you're the only one who has captured it out of the many other covers I've listened to over the years. Great job!

Yeah. I actually learned I could just rip the song as a MIDI with a tool, and I ended up doing that. As I thought, the notes are all over the place. I might upload the ripped MIDI soon, as well as a "remastered" version I made with higher quality synths and instuments at some point.

Nice transcription work! I’ve been trying to figure this track out for years. There’s a tool for PC that will extract audio tracks from the game and make midi files out of them, and another tool that extracts all the instrument sounds to create a soundfont that will make the midis sound good, and yet another tool that puts them both together so you can mute individual tracks. I had it all downloaded at some point until my computer encrypted itself on me and I had to erase everything.

From my perspectives, this is not really fitting for a battle theme, but its kinda fitting for a level theme, because, Metal Mario is a serious boss fight, so it couldnt fit into the pipe of this song. But if Metal Mario becomes a very normal-ish boss battle, it'll fit.

What soundfont was used in the video?also, what program would you recommend to compose MIDI based music?

I used FL Studio, and I didn't use any single soundfont. In fact, it was a combination of the Synth1 VST for the lead and the backing guitars (I believe), and a few other soundfonts for things like the drums. I typically use the FluidR3, Soundcanvas-55 (there are a couple, and I can't remember the one I got. I think it was made by a guy named Patch93), and the PC51d soundfonts for various things. I also recommend the Arachno soundfont, as I've been using it a lot lately. A lot of the instruments resemble ones used in older games (the strings sound very SNES-ish, as does the vibraphone).
