I was honestly disappointed when the official opening didn't finish off with the announcer saying "SUPER SMAAAAAASSSH BROTHERS ULTIMATE" like he did on the final trailer before the game released. Melee still wins for the most hyped opening.

I never particularly cared about the super over-dramatic announcement of the game's title in the first 2 games, but now that I know that it was in a trailer for Ultimate, the omission does bug me. Although you'll have to direct me to which trailer the announcer does say "SUPER SMAAAAAASSSH BROTHERS ULTIMATE".

Nirvis I found that to be my least favorite part, actually. The fade to black transitions don’t sit well when I know the original had a longer, single shot that complimented the slower portion of the music, and transitioned much more smoothly when the camera pans up to the sky as the music builds up to introduce Fox and crew there. This fan remake is more abrupt with it and loses the magic of the original. Everything else is really good, despite the lack of real/useful prerendered resources in Ultimate. Don’t take a film theory class, you’ll never enjoy things again.

My suggestions to improve this. 1:00 Should have included Wolf's Final Smash footage on the other side. 1:26 Should have paused it at "Brothers" and then put the part where he yells "ULTIMATE!" in that Overview trailer. Dequan Milete Ultimate’s into is objectively the most solid because it primarily uses clips of gameplay which won’t go stale, while actually HAVING a story mode to promote, and not being only cutscenes from said story mode. All of the intros are fine, but I feel like Ultimate has the most fan service for a modern audience.

Sorry, this is my opinion, but ultimate's opening (and ssb4 was guilty of this too) is pretty much a compilation of normalized gameplay that intends to portray actual interaction between characters and character introduction. Melee used a cinematic like intro with very little gameplay to introduce the cast and interaction amongst the characters and, IMHO this is why Melee has the best opening of all

@@matthewroman6807 That's not entirely accurate though. Sure, Ultimate doesn't really use any pre-rendered cutscenes in its intro, but they didn't just start a match and hit record either. All the clips are set up as if they were cinematics, with dramatic camera movement and slow motion and even scenes timed alongside the events happening in a stage's background. Not to mention a lot of them have little Easter eggs/references to spot and they managed to include all 70+ characters in some significant way.

This.. this is beautiful. Simply and utterly beautiful. Everything from the recreation to the original transition between characters in-game and the use of various other cutscenes and footage from media showcasing the game. It’s too breathtaking to even put into words, and yet, here it is right before our very eyes. This is exactly what makes Smash Bros. such a brilliant and exciting title. It’s incredible to see all of our favorite characters interacting and battling with each other, there’s such an inherent magic to seeing it all. It’s art.
