oooo, nice catch that his up and back air are based on his reaction commands with xemnas!! though, i think you missed a couple; his crouch and crawl are based on his animations in anti form, he carries crates on his shoulders the way he does in kh1, with the curry item he has the same animations as when he has the burning status effect in kh3, and his down taunt references a pose he strikes in melody of memory ^^ great video!!
@bevvvy13743 жыл бұрын
I really don't think the crawl animation is a reference to anti form. In smash he has a foot parallel to the side of the ground, and his free hand is in front of him rather than behind. If it was really a reference, wouldn't they have him on the balls of his feet like anti form?
@krebooted59443 жыл бұрын
@@bevvvy1374 i mean, you also have to account for changes that would be made in order to seem an animation made to feel off-putting and animalistic feel in line with how normal sora would do them. i feel like its about as close as one would get to the in-game animation with both aforementioned restraints in mind. edit: oops, thought this was in reply to one of my comments on another video. the other aforementioned restraint i alluded to is the need to make the animation readable to an audience while also having sora involved in the action, similar to having an actor face out 3 quarters in a stage play. they do that with a lot of 3D animations when putting them into the 2D space that smash is, see how sora’s left arm and knee dip lower in his smash glide animation than his kh2 animation so that the pose is clearly readable at a glance from this angle, and how his face points out a little bit towards us in the same pose.

Very interesting! I learned some new ones I weren't aware of before, like Blitz during Ftilt and KH2 High Jump with his backflip double jump. Some extras: Sora references Zantetsuken with his forward smash while holding a battering item (that isn't a Home-Run Bat). Forward tilt and dash attack with battering items have some references too, but I don't know the exact names of the abilities. Up tilt could also be a reference to part of when he and Riku are deflecting Xemnas's laser dome in KH2. His Final Smash could also be a reference to the ending of Kingdom Hearts 1, where he seals the Door to Darkness. Finally, his up throw could be a reference to him using a potion or other item.

@@saxor96 I’m talking about Sora’s down taunt, ie his third taunt, when he does a small hop while raising his fist in the air and says "Here we go!" This resembles his animation after successfully hitting star-marked notes in Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory.

You’ll likely never understand this comment, but not even Google Translate can hold you back. I can still understand your feelings and what you are trying to say. We are both Kingdom Hearts fans here.
I always figured that Forward Smash (4:22) was based on Vortex from the first game, but it also makes sense for it to be just be a combo ender. Sora's footwork during Vortex is less "stable" than his usual combo ender and he rotates in the opposite direction, but it does serve a similar function of being an extremely strong single swipe that differs from his usual combo ender (Vortex usually is a combo starter that's activated when there are a ton of enemies surrounding you). Awesome video nevertheless!

A few missed references: > FSmash + non-home run bat battering/slashing item: Zantetsuken (it looks somewhat odd with a Valor pose though, but it's still there.) > Dash Attack + battering/slashing item: Sonic Slash (also from Valor Form, one of his aerial finishers.) These I'm not sure about, but will be included anyway for...purposes: > FTilt + battering/slashing item: Dual Slash (this one is a stretch, but is more than likely a reference to Roxas or Xion. Don't quote me on that.) > Dropping an (one-handed) item: Use Item. > Home Run Bat FSmash: Stereotypical "exaggerated" bat swing animation.

This video makes me realize something. They hardly made any reference to KH3 ,the most current version of Sora, aside from the two costumes. It really makes one think, we're they only allowed to use more of the moveset from the origional KH1 and KH2 due to constraints from Disney and SquareEnix, technology restrictions, time constraints, or something else? The cool Easter egg of dual weilding like Valor Form is so damn cool once found out though. Aside from that and a couple missed on costumes they could of had, I still love what they were able to do with Sora. Great video!
@chanlaman25653 жыл бұрын
It definitely seems like they focused on KH1, since Sakurai tends to use the most classic designs of some legacy characters (Pac-Man and Mega Man come to mind). KH2 and KH3 also bring much more complex movesets for Sora in Drive Forms, Limits, and Formchanges, so they likely also focused mostly on KH1 to keep Sora’s Smash moveset simple in line with their intention for the final character. As Sakurai stated in the presentation, they wanted to keep Sora’s moveset as simple as possible while still respecting his character and series, which is why his magic just cycles through the three, his advanced magic is just a taunt, he doesn’t have a meteor smash, and he can easily link combos through aerials.
@alchemike63463 жыл бұрын
Sakurai took the most less broken version of sora that did not have many other options like in the other games if he would've picked kh3 Sora with all the stuff che can do it could've been too broken
@ma-mashipedro73283 жыл бұрын
@@alchemike6346 Even KH2 would be considered broken compared to KH1 Sora. Imagine if they gave him a change mechanic similar to Pokemon Trainer or Mythra and Pyra where he transforms into the 3 main Drive forms and then his FS is his Final Drive Form. Valor would focus on power and weight, Wisdom would be speed, magic and flotyness and Master Form would be a combo machine. Not to mention Final Drive Form (for his FS so it would only last a little while like an install) would be a mixture of all the Drive forms. I think the concept would of been sick to see but, man it would of been broken as hell.

There was probably a ton of reasons due to SE, like if he's using a specific outfit, will it also change to that era's riku/kairi? IDK, I know it's a weird thing, but Nomura gets twitchy when it comes to continuity and showing the right characters in the right moments. There was also probably some time constraints and SE probably had a lot of requirements for making sure he looked and played exactly as they expected, this probably led to cut ideas, plus you had Disney looming over which is why Donald and Goofy don't appear as part of the "Dive to Heart" area of the Hollow Bastion stage. There probably were a lot of logistics, which is why it's a literal miracle that Sora ever made it into Smash.
