Super Stretch | Valtra N174 Direct trike tractor | 2018 SmartTouch

Farmers and contractors in the Netherlands are well known for their trike tractors. The Noordoostpolder, in the centre of the country, is a hot spot for these specialist conversions which are required to make billiard table flat seedbeds for vegetable crops such as onions.
Here we see Profytodsd Loonwerk with their brand new Valtra N174 Direct. In the cab are the all-new SmartTouch controls. The paired front wheels are mechanically driven from the prop shaft that normally powers the front axle. For road transport the shaft is manually removed. Powering the wheels is done to prevent wheel slip, which reduces fuel consumption and provides a better seedbed.
The 3 front-cultivators are build by engineering firm Ruud Borgijink Technische Dienstverlening: RBTD. The rear seedbed cultivator is a mix of Steketee, Cappon and home made parts. The tractor is making a seedbed for drilling silver-skin onions.

Just bought a international 570 Ford diesel tractor and the transmission dipstick when I go to pull it out it will start to sprout of the neckwhat does this mean is it too much in there cause in at the spill out

Get hold of the manual and any info on the model, if you don't already. If you have taken the trouble to buy one, you ought to arm yourself with knowledge about and then gain experience with working and maintaining your machine. I can't work out why you even mention Ford in the post, they're blue for a start. Check that what you are looking at is what you think it is.

No they are only preparing the seedbed by cultivating. Seeding is done separately.

The weight of the tractor is equally spread across a 3m wide area which means soil compaction is the same and thus the crop emergence will be more evenly. A more even crop is better for the following weed control and will result in a better produce. In this case silver skin onions.

@@Dolencd Glad to help. What is so special about this particular tractor is that the front wheels are mechanically driven. Normal conversions have no front wheel drive or its hydraulic which isn't perfect.

@@Agrifotodotnl WHAT? Damn! I was thinking about that and was like yah, that's probably done with hydro engine of some sort. Maybe the hydro even driven trough front diff or something, but I can see a cardan shaft at the front now yeah. Is that linked to front PTO or the driveshaft? If it's to PTO it also has to have some sort of drive mode, as it usually does at the back. This is smo next level stuff. :) I'm fascinated by Valtras. @@Dolencd It is driven from the front drive (prop) shaft that usually powers the front axle. The front axle is swapped back when this tractor goes spraying so it can be used all year round. Nice video! What is your companies name?

Some parts of NL have headlands. In the polder area (Flevoland) it is usually not done. Headlands generally produce less yield and a lower quality. Also with vegetable crops such as potatoes, onions, carrots etc.. it is easier to do it this way.

No they turn on the tiny headland and swing with the booms across the neighbouring field. Somehow not an issue here. When there are trees or obstacles the boom has to be folded in but most fields are quite small.
