I think i saw this hump that you describe in the intakes,years ago in two differant ones, an old WEIAND, number 7546, and also in an EDELBROCK street dominator, the street dominator went through several changes, saw some with flat floors also !thanks for helping us poor people do most of our own work to achive great results !

I know for a fact that a 9.5" Windsor with good heads does significantly better with a singke olane intake than SBCs do. The peak torque occurs a little higher however the peaknis generally the same or even higher and the hp takes off like a rocket past 6200rpms. With TFS 190cc 11R heads a 0.030" over 357ci Windsor can make 595hp with a single plane, huge cam, tons of compression. Even a 393/408/418/427 small bore 9.5" Windsor still benefits from a single plane, the larger engine just requires less rpms and compression. If one used 205cc 11Rs over 600hp is possible, even within the limits of 93 pump gas, just with a Super Victor or similar shelf big single plane. The 9.5" Windsor is more in the league of an LS engine as long as ypu are willing to run good heads and a roller cam, a factory 4" SBC block is displacement limited to 355-388ci and takes much more racy parts, huge cams, high compression, race fuel to hang and usually a pump gas SBC like that performs better with a quality dual plane.

Can't wait to see this. I'm looking at running a single plane 4150 style manifold with PFI on an LS1/6 engine.

Both 5.7 L are you running ls6 block w/ ls1 heads. Or ls 1 block w/ ls6 heads?

As long as you have good heads, high compression and a huge cam the single plane will make a lot more peak power. On those smaller 346ci LS you will lose tons of low-mid range tq compared to long runner intakes like a FAST or Hi-Ram unless its a very light, deep gears, high stall application it will likely not perform as well without the tq. The single plane is going to be much better with at least a 383 stroker or better yet a 6L or 6.2L 4"-4.065"+ bore basis engine. A 408 like Eric Weingartner's with good heads and a single plane can make 670hp.

I've ran a 468BBC in dirt sportsman class. Had a strip dominator intake, and one of those trick spacers on it. I was limited to a 1" by rules, and had to run a 500 Holley 2BBL. My engine make 632 lb/ft torque at 3200, and 438hp at 5700, before the engine over ran the carb capabilities. I always envisioned making a 'turtle' to glue into the floor of that intake, to do exactly what you are talking about here. Never got around to it, but if I had, I'd have screwed it up, not thinking about runner length & air velocity in those center cylinders. Because I had to run such a small carb on such a big engine, I always thought about creating a vacuum leak on the carb, and just fatten up the carb to accommodate the intended vacuum leak... but again, never did. Probably because I didn't need too. That engine was a monster coming off the corner.

Hi David, I've got p76 motor with longer length boxer (4 SU) intake, should I be modifying the 5-7 junction wall to favour no 5...given that the su carb for those cylinders will see no induction for 450 degrees... Keep up the good work. Clyde, in Glasgow

What makes a manifold single dual or whatever-plane?
@Phantom-mk4kp18 сағат бұрын
Single plane,all runners are fed from the one plenum area, dual plane the runners are grouped together into 2 groups of 4 , each group has its own plenum area

For risk of being redundant, it's for a tall deck if you didn't catch that.
