I really like your idea of blind tasting the trio of Sassicaia, Bordeaux, and Napa Cab. That’s so fascinating, indeed, and one that I’d love to try with friends. As for this video, well, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: you’re my trusted expert when it comes to the topic of Super Tuscan, among other wines and wine subjects, and you certainly provided here an excellent retelling of the story behind legendary Super Tuscan wine Sassicaia and the Tenuta San Guido winery. This one is on my bucket list for sure. Out of all the italian wines, Sassicaia 2016 and Barolo Bartolo Mascarelli 2016 is my top picks for a future variety tasting. You have also helped me identify some awesome rhone wines and I'm actually travelling to Gigondas next year thanks to your recommendations ☺

I consider Sassicaia wine to be the best SuperTuscan wine. Its "younger siblings" Ornellaia or Guado al Tasso are of course also brilliant SuperTuscan wines, but only Sassicaia is the number one wine for me! I have bottles in my collection from 1998, through 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019 to 2021. The oldest vintage 1998 is a very mature, perfectly smooth, extremely smooth Sassicaia in great condition. And it will be great for a few more years.👍

Guidalberto is a steady pick for me nowadays, it offers the best value imo. Waiting for some Sassicaia’s to mature.. Nice video! Have fun in Piedmont. Any truffle hunting?

2 cases of the 2015 and 1 case of the 2019 are sleeping in my cellar! These wines are not meant to be consumed young and I should be opening my first 2015 in a couple of more years. I am not buying more as I think I am set with this wine but also because prices have become close to insane. Enjoy your Sunday!

Just an idea: what about a video where you discuss worthy super Tuscan alternatives to Sassicaia? Curious about your opinion here. I love Oreno and Orma by Tenuta Sette Ponti for example, and the latter vineyard is sandwiched between Sassicaia and Ornellaia. Retail €70-90 depending on where you shop..

Mmh.. my salary doesn't afford me to do a fun wine tasting with Sassicaia and other expensive Cab Sav. Imagine inviting my stingy friends that barely bring a £2 cake if not empty handed, and saying: tonight I'll do a blind tasting for your with a £260 bottle of wine. No chance! I can't afford it for myself, nevermind my friends 😂
