I have both 7' spinning and 7'1 casting models and have had nothing but positive experiences. Absolutely handles 4lb plus largemouth and smallies. Both fit in a sling pak with a small confidence bait box i have set up just as u mentioned! I have been able to fish anywhere whenever I get an itch on long road trips! I live in Crofton, MD (home of the snakehead) and have caught many with these rods as well as Chanel cats! Both fight similar! Great content brother! I'm gonna be looking out for more!

Guys please. Carbon rods ARE NOT to be stored in a car, especially during the summer because the extreme heat will most likely damage those rods, will reduce their lifespan. I wonder why u need your thumb to fight a snakehead when you have a drag on your reel and plenty of line? I agree that a water with heavy vegetation can be a huge problem but in this situation you will need to use a stronger rod, thicker line, heavier combo.

Last summer while visiting my son at university in Kansas I caught a 3-foot gar on the spinning version of that same rod. For the price I consider it a beater travel rod so I horsed the gar without care or concern. No problem whatsoever. I visited again this summer and am here as I write this. Nothing as big as that gar but I flip bass all the time no problem. The rod tip is way stronger than it might seem.

Definitely great review, just watched it again for pointers. What kind of line would you recommend for this rod? Do you think it can handle braid and floro, or is that what you were using?

I recently bought an 8ft, heavy action casting version of the Blackhawk II. I matched it with an Abu Garcia 6500C3, and spooled the reel with 40 lb KastKing Superpower braid. I attached a one ounce spoon and the rod busted in half on the very first cast. The lure only went 20 ft. I have been using telescopic rods for many years and am certain everything was seated properly. The rod must have been defective. Unfortunately it is 3 days after the 30 day Amazon return window. There is a "lifetime warranty", but Kastking pretty much charges you to replace it no matter if it is defective or not. Of course, they will never admit to it being defective anyway.

Great show. You need a BwB .... Buddy with Boat. Then you'll be out there where the hogs hang out. Or better yet, get one of those little 10ft or 12ft boats from Walmart, Cabela's etc... they all have them. Out a trilling motor on it. Or a fishing kayak even. Then you don't have to worry about friends not wanting to go or can't stay long, etc...

@@andriesgeddes4692 No. It is not free. You have you to pay for shipping and handling both ways. Then they probably won't replace it anyway. Even if they do replace it, the shipping and handling will cost as much as a new one. So, there is no actual warranty. I learned this the hard way. I bought two of these worthless rods and one broke on the first cast. It was the heavy action 8 ft and I was only casting a one ounce lure. Their "customer service" explained their "warranty" and implied it was my fault - so they probably wouldn't replace it. What a joke. I don't use the other one. Just $120 down the drain.

I have only recently started using a baitcaster and have fallen in love with it. Using a Shimano Caius combo that I was able to snag for about 80$. I love telescopic rods simply because I have a smaller truck so its easier to load up. I have been trying to watch all kinds of reviews on this rod because Im using a traditional casting rod now and i just wish it was easier to grab it and go. Great vid, my only question is what reel are you using here? That sound when you cast is so satisfying.

He uses a Shimano Curado DC. DC stands for digital control, it does only have 4 settings for braking (what line ur using) rest of the braking is taken care of by the chip which is what you're hearing in the vid. A cheaper alternative is the Shimano SLX DC. I have 2 of them and they are awesome. There also exists much, much more expensive variants:) Just search for shimano dc reels.

In my country, people are extremely prejudiced towards things that are out of the ordinary for them in their daily lives and seeing a person carrying a fishing rod in their hands generates looks of astonishment or comments that it is a program for people of low social status. They don't understand that fishing is a sport and that it can be practiced by everyone, even those who don't depend on fish to survive. Therefore, buying a telescopic rod of the best model available, for example. The DAIWA BBB and being able to hide it inside a backpack, avoids this entire unpleasant situation, in addition to being very practical and reliable. I love putting all my fishing gear in my backpack, taking the subway and going fishing without big bags in my hands.

I moved 15 years ago from mich to Louisiana and I had 6 or 7 them rods one ive had well over 20 years no one ever talked about them I loved useing for fishing out boats to fish by bushes. But now on last 3 no 5 years theve got big and now as much as high end rod. I like them I have so many kinds been collecting while had more some stolen a lot gave away some sold. But o finally got gew new ones did review on some. Have another one need to use and do review. But had heart attack after I got so haven't did video or fished yet. Right now dealing with finding baits and rod reels for kids fishing group I run its my last year cause my health and my daughter quit fishing shes 21 had baby few months old. So I cant run alone we ran 15 years. So wanted to take road trip east to fish and give away. But storm tool out my camper I just used my kife saving to get so have nothing to sleep in now so saving to find another one. Till then ill keep finding baits rods reels I can afford and blessing the kids around here with free rods reels and baits. Hey awesome video great review keep it up. God bless

@FloBass
@FloBass 4 жыл бұрын
I don't recommend this rod for a beginner. It would work kayak fishing, but its definitely not my first choice. It should be considered a travel rod to get you by if you're on a trip and get the itch to fish. It will get the job done. Like a swiss army knife. Its not the best tool for any one job, but it works.

@FloBass
@FloBass 5 жыл бұрын
Lake Ida is just about the northern most place you'll catch them consistently. Then you'll find them all the way down to Miami. You can find them in some of the canals in Naples as well, but no where near as prominent as the east coast.

I do not recommend this rod for a beginner. If you want a good quality combo to start, I would get a Lews Mach 1 or Mach 2 combo at Dicks Sporting Goods. Way less complicated.

@@FloBass Thank you. I'm a total noob. What reel would you recommend for a telescopic rod like this? I just want something lightweight that I could throw on the side of my ALICE pack when I go hiking and camping. My favorite camping spot has a huge lake so I'd just be passing time and messing around. Nothing serious.

They make an in shore spinning model for bigger game fish. But if you're fishing off a pier you'll probably be wanting to lift the fish up with the rod, and I don't recommend doing that.

@FloBass

Kastking makes multiple versions of this rod with different lengths and powers. You need to ask yourself what type of lures and/or weight you'll be casting, then the size fish you're targeting. Once you know this, then you can look at the offerings they have for the blackhawk 2 and determine if they make a rod that will handle what you intend to do with it.

@@FloBass is there a good version for fishing bass and pike? Thats mainly what i get around here. Might add that im totally new to fishing. Was thinking about getting a KastKing Spartacus II. Would that be good?
@FloBass
@FloBass 3 жыл бұрын
If the pike aren’t big. Around 30” and less then the 7’1” medium heavy that I’m using in this video will work fine. But if the pike are bigger, the 8 foot casting rod will be better. I don’t have any experience with their reels. They’re reasonably priced and used by a lot of people so I don’t think you can go wrong.

For salt water get one of the inshore spinning rods. You’ll be able to use a reel with more line capacity than most casting reels and will be able to make longer casts.

@FloBass
@FloBass 4 жыл бұрын
The power of the rod you use really depends on the baits you'll be throwing and the cover you'll be fishing around. If you're fishing around grass, you might want to consider going with a medium heavy. But if its more open and you're throwing baits that aren't heavier than 3/8 ounce, then the medium will work well.
