I've always liked that an HK Holden Kingswood sedan was entered in the this particular race. 1:10 I _think_ it even won its class, but I don't know how many other vehicles were actually in that class. 😬 (Class C?)

Lol DAM it's a hard test for those poor old 68's cars, it's basically hub caps off, numbered up & thrashed senseless until it either wins or breaks. XT's seemed to handle "a little" better than the Monaro's but only a little. I see the old VE? Valiant mixing it up with the pack, wonder how it went? Good footage to watch thanks for posting it.
@AsinineComment2 жыл бұрын
Chrysler Valiants entered were usually the Pacer 4dr sedan. However, 2 yrs prior to the Monaro's ground breaking win, Chrysler V8s were being punted up, down and around the mountain. In '66, two separate factory-backed teams brought the VC Valiant sedan to Mt Panorama. - and with Chrysler's Torqueflite auto trans.

@allansunderland69444 ай бұрын
@@andrewphillips4897 nah mate, the 327 was ONLY ever fitted to HK Monaro GTS 327 !!! and only ever offered as a heavy duty 4 speed manual ( Saginaw gearbox), no auto option. HT Monaro got the 350, as did HG, but only in Monaro GTS, no 350s in any other variants, such as Brougham, Premier, Kingswood, or commercial range. HZ never had a 350, as the last one was an option in 1974 HQ. HZ could have a Holden 308 in manual or auto. By 1970, the USA was producing lower compression 350s to meet smog requirements, so horsepower dropped, and Holden's high compression 308 almost matched the low comp Chev 350's output. The writing was on the wall, no more 350s!!
