Who needs to charter a private jet when you can book a private charter train like this one?

I was wondering how much it would cost to purchase your own locomotive and like 3-4 rail cars, and then just lease time on the line.

before the private jet, the private railcar was the means of transportation for that sector and i think you still can do it and couple your wagon at the end of a train, but well, good luck trying

Not a fan of these hyped-up tourist trains, however on this occasion I think it was a superb, interesting and unusual journey, with good on-board facilities. But did you forget the obligatory 'toilet visit' ? Thanks for sharing this video; the price of £850 in extremely reasonable.

:ast time I used that station was WAY back in 1983 taking a train to Athens (that arrived 8 hours late). It was a bad Soviet era sleeper carriage, no working toilets and, of course, the only other country was Yugoslavia! Armed guards, very dodgy "customs" with bribes etc etc. Great fun :) It was then that you realised a $1 note was a small fortune. We got a wonderful loaf of bread from a platform seller and gave them $1 - keep the change (cost was about 2 cents) and they were overwhelmed :)

Well done with pronuncing Hungarian town names, you did quite well, our language is not an easy one for foreigners! 🙂 It is worth mentioning that the car you were travelling by was actually the design of the Austrian railways, not Hungarian as they used to be ÖBB passenger coaches. You could ride them even in the late 2000's, maybe early 2010's too.

Until 2013 there was a daily scheduled train connection from Budapest Déli Station to Sarajevo. I went with it. 2 carriages of the IC Train till Pécs were hauled further through Croatia to Sarajevo. Pity, that this connection does not exist any more. Abandoned was by the lack of interest of the croatian railways.

What a great trip. Definitely rare train into unexpected country. It's rare to see somebody covered train trip inside Bosnia and Herzegovina, thankfully you did it. That intercity train from Budapest into Budapest remind me about some of Intercity Loop Line Train, covering 1-2 province in my country, and that trip is much longer than Budapest one. The first Intercity Loop Line Train completed it's journey around 10 hours and others even nearly 13 hours. And for ticketing it's bit unique, because the first one is considered as Local Train, meanwhile the remaining is considered as Intercity Train. Plenty of locomotive changing train can give you opportunity to met some unique locomotive species. Can't wait for another train trip in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

One of the most epic train rides I've ever taken was the train from Salzburg, Austria to Ljubiana, Yugoslavia (!) and then onto Split. This was just before the war, and the mood in the country was _anything_ but good. I still remember that really desperate vibe. And crazy inflation had already set in. When we changed 1000 NOK we got several _bags_ of dinar bills back.

As an older person, the brand marque or logo of Continental Classic Express looks very familiar, exclusive of its lettering: the historic "Keystone" design, red in colour with its outline in gold of the Pennsylvania Railroad of the USA. The coverings atop the seating is also memorable. The familiar sound of the GM Electro-motive diesel causes me to observe that it is remarkable that profit is left for the trip sponsor after several locomotive changes. Such a process of multiple power-changes would not have been economically feasible on the former Pennsylvania rail network. With a couple of tweaks such as a multi-lingual menu, EFGH (English, French, German, Hungarian), rail track with a better ride, and a destination to connect with a higher-speed international service, it is quite possible that this tourist operation may well become very popular.

Thanks for this video! I would wish You such journeys in nice company. These carriages obviously were bought from ÖBB, where they served as 1st class cars in long distance trains between the seventies and the nineties. Very similar seats (in a 2+1 layout!) were even used for 2nd class in the legendary ÖBB 4010 EMUs. Compared to this we have a massive decay in travel comfort nowadays with the cramped and claustrophobic layout esp. in 2nd class.

Talgo trains assembled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA were auctioned off at pennies on-the-dollar after its State Governor refused to honor a contract to pay for these new trains. Predictably, the Talgo company sued the State which had to pay millions of dollars in reparations. Having won the bid, the Province of Lagos, Nigeria now operates these trains on its commuter rail service.

Still think Saphos do things better in the UK, at least using beautifully restored steam or diesel locomotives and the carriages have had the bogies changed to allow modern mainline running speeds to be used where needed to fit in with normal services. All restored locomotives have to be capable of 100mph running if required. Most excursions do have a modern diesel hanging off the rear just in case or to provide additional electric power if more than one kitchen car and shunting at terminus to allow the train to be turned around for return journey whilst the hauling loco gets serviced. Only Kingswear on the river Dart Estuary still has a working turntable (manually turned) on the National Network for the loco otherwise a journey around a reversing loop used.
