Maria Helena Vieira da Silva (French-Portuguese, was an abstract painter based in France. She first studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lisbon with the painter Fernand Léger (French, 1881-1955) and produced textiles, sculptures, ceramics and paintings.
In 1928, she moved to Paris. She was influenced by the work of the impressionist Pierre Bonnard (French, 1867-1947) and began exhibiting her own abstract paintings, famous for their treatment of perspective and space.
