Can you damage a bearing by over greasing it ?

What size is needed for a 2021 Ranger Northstar? I have heard 44mm for the front and 40mm for the rear. I have also heard 44mm for both front and rear.

Did you just crank that castle nut down without proper torque setting?
@vinniewilson25462 жыл бұрын
Weird…
@SuperATVMedia2 жыл бұрын
Oops! Proper torque settings can be found in the vehicle's owner's manual. This XPT requires 180ft/lb for the hub castle nut.

Is there a wrong way to put washers back on before castle nut?
@SuperATVMedia2 жыл бұрын
I don't believe so! There are some models that have a beveled washer, but you should be able to locate an image for correct placement in your owners manual.
@vlo90792 жыл бұрын
There is! I was replacing my diffy recently and had to put my front hub back on. There are 2 concaved washers. If you don't place them in the correct direction, the rotor will rub on the brake pad hard once you torque the castle nut down. I called a shop owner. He told me they have to be positioned so that the bow against each other and have a "spring" effect. I played with them a little and got it to where I felt comfortable with them.
@davidschlarp16062 жыл бұрын
Yes. The bevel side goes out so the castle nut keeps pressure on it
@vlo90792 жыл бұрын
So after doing tons of research and asking a lot of people on forums, I finally got the answer. The 2 washers are concaved obviously. They go on the hub with the wide open part of the washers facing each other. So the "pointing" end if the cone point away from each other.

Align washers so their convex sides are facing away from one another. Think of the convex & concave positions as they relate to a pair of eyeglasses. Eyeglasses will almost always have the lens concave facing the eyeballs & lens convex facing outward. Hope this helps.

If the bearings have never been greased , it usually takes about 24 pumps

Our bearings come prefilled with marine grade grease. So it doesn't take much to top them off!

Isn't this only greasing the shaft hole and not actually going into the inside of the bearing

Bearing full of grease is wrong. It will overheat and ball separator will wear out. Quicker the speed more bad it gets. Right amount of grease is very little.

Artur, help me please. I have a trailer with sealed wheel bearing. Long story short, I filled it full of grease ( to push out old grease that turned into liquid). On its end there is a cup that is empty, probably 75% volume of the grease I pumped. Will excess of grease shift to the hub cup or I'm in trouble?
@artur84033 жыл бұрын
@@SuperMarioQueens I believe it will push to cup. Problem is with dual bearings that have seals on both sides. Trailer bearings are other type usually. From cup side they are open. Or else how did you manage to get grease into bearing..
@SuperMarioQueens3 жыл бұрын
@@artur8403 needle style into milwaukee grease gun. Old grease was actually a liquid. I didn't even plan to push that much but old grease started to flow like a river so I figured I will pimp till it stops. Then I realized it might be too much when was too late. It's a car carrier trailer. I think I will open them after some 500 miles and remove excess.
