Superbooth 2023: Sucofunk Beatmaker Sketchbook

We spoke to Marc Berendes from Sucofunk about the Beatmaker Sketchbook. This device is a sampler, sequencer, and groovebox that is completely portable and is available in two different versions. The Beatmaker Sketchbook is 100 % open source and can be found on GitHub.
It has a workflow of sample, sketch, arrange, and play, which means users can sample, arrange parts of the sequence, and perform live. The sampler has 24 keys and three banks, which means 72 buttons and keys in total, and each key can be assigned to a sample.
The device can record something or sample from the internal microphone and the line-in connector, or resample something like sequences played back. Sucofunk offers workshops for the device, which takes two days to build and offers pre-order for the devices.

This should be friends with my Qun mk2. Love the bones version! ❤ It's a bit more expensive than Qun mk2, however. Qun does a lot for it's tiny size, and more all the time. I participate in that's development. testing, and occasional ideas. Very fun little machine, that sounds amazing, and does advanced things...granular synthesis, sequence modifiers, modeled Moog Ladder in 2 and 4 pole....This seems really great though. If you designed a Wiimote style silicone cover for it, that would be STUNNING....Just not plain clear, because it becomes ugly yellow after a couple years of contact with sweaty human skin. 😉 ..maybe red, black, green, orange....fluorescent?

I talked to Marc at Superbooth and he said they are manufactured on a small scale in Europe. So no cheap Chinese pcbs shipped around the globe (better for the climate) and no economics of scale. And razor thin profit margins, if any. As unfortunate as the high price is, he's doing a great job and is a really nice guy with an awesome product.
