These things are not priced in relation to what they're worth or cost, they're priced in such a way to stop the little people being able to buy one. They're simply making sure that the item is always considered an elite luxury and that the brand is known as such.

The original Veyron's sold meant that VW/Bugatti made a loss. Over a billion dollars was spent on development of it, as a technological experiment. Some where around 410 were sold for $650 million. You can argue that it cost $2 million per car to buy, but it cost VW/Bugatti $8 million to produce each car.

@@Mapantz1 But that's taking onto account building the custom factory which will be used for later/other models. These costs don't include the benefits of advertising that come with it, so some of the money "lost" would account for that, I'd be willing to be any loss would be written off in some way as tax breaks A company like VW doesn't just spend $1B making a fun experiment for no reason.

Out of all the cars you can choose you choose the ONE brand known for actually breaking records. They literally produce cars that break WORLD RECORDS. Meanwhile 99% of all other supercars break no record or outperform in no metric...

Well the other supercars don't care about 400+ mark except for Koenigsegg who likes to break Bugatti records and set new ones. His point is that's it's unacceptable to see cheap vw parts on an expensive Bugatti instead of a complete bespoke setup. Since i don't own a Bugatti I can't really say if he is just over exaggerating or is saying facts.

Koenigsegg dude. They break all of Bugatti's records for fun. They're also the Nokia of supercars. Look up their durability tests

Record breaking has nothing to do with the fact they are charging £4700 for a £150 part. He's just pointing out that they gouge the owners on costs simply because of the name and the fact the owners are all so rich they just don't care about the price. To the ultra rich paying $3M for a car is just a flex and they wouldn't care if it was actually $4M, in some cases they'll actually prefer that because it comes with more bragging rights.

@@EVOpower Everybody would. No way anybody who can't afford one is paying a 50k monthly maintenance. That said it's not a con, the whole point of that car is destroy all the others in street racing and be a status symbol. Yeah there are the Koenigseggs but Bugattis are the most known
