Supercell Thunderstorm | Denver, CO 24JUN15

24JUN15: Tornado warned supercell thunderstorm over East Denver, CO as see from Aurora, CO looking North. Lightning strikes, gust front and tornado sirens. Enjoy.

Awesome video. I was right in the middle of this storm. A tornado ripped through the old Lowry Air Force base, where I worked. Cool to see the storm from this view!

That's some freaky looking cloud structure. Great work,...unlike some of the other storm vids i've watched on here,where the videographer narrates constantly &/or adds anmoying 'dramatic' music in the background. Shots of nature at work alone like this is enough!

Those are Aurora's Tornado Sirens because they have the dual wail. Denver's Tornado Sirens have a one-toned wail and no "all-clear", Aurora has an "all-clear" tone too. But that day both Aurora and Denver activated all sirens for both cities!! It was quite an anxious evening!

***** This video is shot looking NW while the storm was moving in an easterly direction through Denver. I didn't realize that each city had different toned wails thanks for the info.

No problem lol. Denver's sirens just wail with one loud pitch...Aurora wails them up and down in pitch and also has an all-clear tone. Did you see the tornado today?

Yes, it was just a funnel cloud though, never reached the ground, but the lighting was great and I was able to capture a decent video of it. I posted it up on my channel.

Yeah I snapped some pics. Okay...I thought it touched down. I just moved from NW to SE Aurora and I really thought, "this is it!" I was sure it was going to drop and hit! Crazy!

The funnel started to get longer and more defined then a couple minutes later started to lose it's structure. My adrenaline was pumping for a few minutes though while I was looking for possible debris.

At 0:40 you can see 2 to 3 possible mesocyclones. Wow I was here during the storm but got a horrible video angle

All over Colorado actually. There was a Tornado that touched down in Wheat Ridge, CO (which is considered the foot hills, and about 45 minutes away from the mountains, so a tornado is HIGHLY unlikely for our area) back in 2009 and the tornado sirens malfunctioned and never got turned on. We were all unaware of the tornado that touched down two streets down from my house. Thank goodness they replaced them (I think they were just really old, and were never really used before!) and they test them quite frequently LOL.

Depends on where you live, the Springs doesn't have them. The only reason I knew one was coming towards the south end of the springs was because of the EAS going off in my work truck when I got back in. Not fun.
