Oh dude it's way too fast for mechanical brakes. I don't like them even on slow legal bikes that only do 15. For an ebike 180mm rotors with 4 piston brakes should be the minimum. Hydraulic brakes aren't even expensive anymore either especially in the quantities bike manufacturers can buy them for.

Bought this bike for the great price as my other expensive one was stolen but i have had terrible trouble on the dislplay screen adjustment. . . eventually i lost all drive on P/A and throttle. . .this is a problem that they really should rectify ( by the way i did eventually get around it with Duotts help in fairness they had good support

You can order this with Hydraulic brakes. Cost still under £1000. Wish I had seen this before I bought my Engwe L20. I have had to add Hydralic brakes myself as well as suspension seat post and better saddle. Along with an 11-32 freewheel change to lessen the ghost peddling. So all in all has cost me over £1000 for an ebike that only gets around 25 miles if your lucky. Another battery to boost range will cost me a whopping £399!!. You can buy this Duotts with Dual battery and hydraulic brakes for just £1049!! Thats a no brainer

Be careful Duotts are scammers, my bike is self accelerating and I almost got hit by a cars. Their support are not even answering, and now I'm working with the authorities to get them banned from selling in Europe.

There's something to be said for taking an efficient bike and electrifying it. Part of why it's cheaper than most ebikes too.

It literally performs the same as my 52v bike 😂. I've stuck a 21ah battery on it though and a bunch of other stuff, plus it's a direct drive hub motor and those things are HEAVY. My bike is 35 kilos easily.

I have this Gen2 bike and driven ~150km by now. 2 major flaws with this bike. No.1 is that the breaks are super bad, like literally rubbish. Changed the break pads for a better one but still quite bad. I think that im gonna replace the whole breaking system including the disk breaks. No.2 is that the left crank arm is loose. Every time I go for a ride the left crank arm gets loose. I tighten it with my 8mm hex wrench and it stays for a little time and then it gets loose again. I think that I need to replace the crank arm or the whole bottom bracket assembly.

They're about equal really. The issues I had with the Duotts were really just down to bad adjustments from the factory which can happen to any bike. I'd go with the best price/ delivery time etc.

@@TilenPirih I'd say they're about equal but I believe the Gunai has become a bit more expensive since I reviewed it. How about the Engwe ep2 pro for your gf? Pretty fast and fat tyre ebikes go quite small.

Ive had mine for about a half year, never been outside or driven in the rain. but still its rusting in multiple places and ive had to change pedals and bolts here and there. Just FYI, you might as well buy some now. Otherwise a nice cheap bike for the price.

@@e-VRC Correct haha, it has never as much as crossed a puddle when ive been out. And still it rusts like crazy! Best advise is to replace all nuts and botls asap, along with the pedals. Those were some of the tings that went within the first 6 months.

I have a big question , if you select lower assist level 1 or 2, does it also outpoot ''less power / wattage'', or it gives max power and only limits max speed? You know what i mean? Like good ol KT controllers have ''torque simulation''. I have older C29 model, and its really bad because it doesnt limit power, so pedaling is useless as it always overpowers you, gets to max speed, an than cuts off.

Totally understand. Some bikes have a big kick but then it just stops at a lower speed on lower assist. I do a bit in the video where I go through the assist levels. I usually say something if it's the cut off style. I can't remember off the top of my head without watching again

I'd be replacing the brake calipers to hydraulic before I even had my first ride on it. 180mm rotors with 4 piston hydraulic should be the bare minimum for anything over 15.5mph. my brakes can bring me to a stop really quickly even on a steep downhill those 4 pistons just hit differently lol

Actually thats the max for power assist on UK roads, you can peddle to any speed you can reach above that under your own power. On private land there are no restrictions at all.
