There're settings for air temp and coolant temp bias, which varies with airflow. Or, you can set it to only use air temp, and put that sensor in your manifold. That's how people do it with the P01 and P59 OEM gen 3 LS ECUs anyway.

"Is speed density outright better than a MAF setup?" yes

MAYBE FOR POWER, NOT FOR DRIVEABILITY

@@richardholdener1727 MAF just gives you a cheap (as far as effort) tuning option. Also gives you a finicky sensor that likes to complain. Speed density with an intake leak will just rev higher, MAF can run lean. Either can do power AND drivability. On more than one occasion I've diagnosed a vehicle that ran horribly or not at all by disconnecting the MAF and it 'magically' running fine. A 2009 Malibu and a (can't remember year, 2013ish) Mazda CX-5 come to mind.

Depends on what you want for it in the 5.3L. With the tight LSA and low duration it will have a very good torquey power band. The cam would be great in a truck that is not for meant racing, and stock converter should work. I know the LS guys are famous for running to big of cams and throttle body’s, and they are scared to run a high stall converter, just messing though😜. You can see RH’s previous videos to what a cam of that size looks like on a dyno graph, and then translate it to real world.
