I travel from SE Georgia to Homestead, FL few times a year in my Model S Long Range, it is such a seamless drive when following simple routines. Never go below 18% and never charge above 80% at the V3 SuperChargers only, you get guided according to your specification then battery gets preconditioned prior to arrival, charging time gives me just enough time to visit the ladies room and get a cup of coffee. I certainly don't miss the times when I had to insert a CC, enter zip code (mind you at the filthy pumps), pump the gas then wait in line to get a receipt from the cashiers. Love my Tesla to pieces!

@@mkkm945 2-3 hours. Stops are more frequent with family with small kids. We often stop at a supercharger even if we have't reached the bottom of the state of charge. In 7 to 9 hour (400 mile) roadtrip, we plan to make one long stop for a meal (20-30 min). One more short (5-10 min) charging stop is good enough to reach the destination with a lot of leftover range. Even with gas car, we'd be spending the same amount of time in breaks. A big positive is that with gas car, I have to spend 5-10 mins of pulling in-out of the gas station and standing next to the car while it's filling. With Tesla, I just plugin and walk away. Cherry on top: I save about $60-70 on every 400 mile roadtrip thanks to high gas price here in CA.

I drove a non-Tesla EV a few months ago, and it was really complicated. There was no system indicating where to stop, and no reliable charging network. Every charging stop was a bad experience: malfunctioning charging stations, stations working differently from the previous one, exorbitant charging prices, and long waits because there were only 2 or 3 chargers each time. The GPS screen was slow... In short, Tesla is ten years ahead. There's Tesla and then there are the others. I will stay with Tesla for a long time. Thanks Tesla !

@@ramblerandy2397 Yes, I know you were referring to the Model 2. VW is trying to compete with it using ID 2. Tesla understood the economics of EVs is tied very much to battery costs early on AND THEY DID SOMETHING ABOUT IT WITH GIGAFACTORY NEVADA. The other car makers, not so much. Tesla also has vastly more efficient manufacturing, including the radical plans for the new small cars, which they hope to build in a few major modules, then weld together. No one builds cars that way now. All the other car makers are at least 5 to 10 years behind Tesla, and probably won't catch up, due to their extremely rapid pace of innovation. The exact same situation exists at SpaceX. No competitor is withing years of catching up. Except for the (thieves in) China.

Just did our first multi-day trip with our new Tesla X Thanks be to God :) but the range was way off... Thank God we were worried about this in advance and opted to stop at more charging stations than recommended. for example... it had 100% charged the battery and said you can me it to your destination but drive under 60 mph... hmmm. got nervous. so clicked on the map icon that shows where charging stations are located... supper helpful! ... and found a super charger 50% of the way there. Thank God. got there with only 12 miles range left. the initial drive would have come up short by > 200 miles. I think the problem was we had bicycles in a rack on the back of the car. we weren't speeding much... I did some tests with 70 mph vs 60 mph for example and yes that did increase avg wi/h from 350 to 428... aerodynamic drag goes up exponentially with speed... we had some weight in the car. myself and some cargo but couldn't have been more than carrying 3 people total would be. I really think it was the bikes on the rack in the back. and that added drag isn't accounted for by Tesla. I wonder if they have a feature that adapts their algorithm for your driving as it sees that you're not getting that great ep mileage? need to find out :)

One addition I am desperately missing is an option to select an "arrival State of Charge". I often drive to a destination with no supercharger or home charging option within 50km. It would be great to not arrive with 10% and then basically be stranded there but if instead there was an option to tell the Tesla to arrive with at least 50% left so I still have enough charge to do one or two smaller trips to the supermarket and when I leave that I can easily arrive at the next Supercharger.

Let's start by mentioning I have two Tesla's before anyone gets upset. The trip planned is decent but no driver wants to only barely charge enough to make it to the next stop and pretend that issues or unplanned traffic etc won't happen. Now, to fix my concerns, when I put in an address, the vehicle should let me select the charging points along the way or allow me to set the arrival percentage to what makes me comfortable. It took me awhile to allow the car to get much below 40% purely because my home charger was slow and I would have to go 20mins each way to get to the nearest supercharger

In high traffic days, Tesla should make Supercharging free of charge if limited to 15 minutes max and at least 50 miles driven between next charging. I love being able to get in the car setting the destination. I'd let it figure out what superchargers to stop at how much to charge to it. All works great until it comes to pulling a trailer with my tesla model y. Then even after you drive a while. The navigation doesn't understand that you're actually consuming a lot more energy and it needs to stop at different superchargers. I end up having to use a different app or doing the calculations by hand to figure out if I have enough charge to get to a super charger. It would be Nice to be able to put in trailer information or for it to automatically detect that you're pulling a trailer and detect how much of a drag that is. Putting the tesla. Then doing calculations based on that information.

The car knows if you are pulling a trailer. Trip Planner needs to be programmed to calculate a new kW/mile and recalculate the routing using the new data. It would be optimal to be able to set the initial rate of consumption.

Nova Scotia really needs more Superchargers, most of the province isn't covered. Lack of reliable chargers is now impacting EV adoption. Pls Tesla make this a priority.

We went on a trip abroad, had a rental Model 3, and had a segment where we drove all the way down to 1% battery. All estimated by trip planner. Not really anxious since I knew there was still a buffer below 0%.

As I told someone years ago when they asked me why Tesla didn't use one of the existing standards, "Tesla built the standard. Everyone else just hasn't adopted it yet." 🚘🔋🔌⚡👍

Please do a privacy mode or daytime driving mode! A way to dark the windows for traveling or leaving the car in the parking lot would be such a great tool! I’m so sick of people trying to break into the car to steal stuff!

I borrowed a family member’s Tesla for a few days. You need to add restrictive phone key. Having access to sentry mode, location, etc on a vehicle that is not mine hurts privacy. Make it possible to add a phone key user which gives access to remote climate control and locking capabilities without giving them access to sentry mode and location when I’m not using it. Even better: make it so the owners can pick and choose what kinds of access another phone key could have.

This is a great view into Tesla's monitoring systems too. Can we just acknowledge how good the Tesla charge network is? 0:29 3:30PM PST on a Monday (US rush hour) and there are only 5 fully occupied charging sites (all probably in CA lol). And only 2 sites with > 20 minute wait.

Add a supercharger in Kayenta AZ - It's been shown as planned for over 3 years now. That is the main route from Phoenix AZ to SW Colorado and no superchargers. Either that or start offering 500 mile range Tesla's. I love my Tesla M3 but don't have a way to use it to get up to the Colorado Rockies from Phoenix due to range limitations.

Include a force preconditioning button when navigating to 3rd party chargers! Preconditioning only turns on when navigating to Tesla Superchargers....

I love my Tesla! However, in order to select the most ECONOMICAL (not fastest) route, I have to work it out myself. Not everyone is about getting to the destination as quickly as possible. Scenic routes? Lower speeds? These are all parameters which are left out because Tesla makes assumptions about people which are not universal. California is a very fast paced state. Not all locations are that way. I appreciated some of the navigation options I had in my Prius, which I traded in for the Tesla.

I think it's fine. Custom personal preferences should be up to yourself. An option like "make the route nice and relaxed" seems like it wouldn't turn out exactly like you wanted anyways.. or ?

Lol, yesterday I saw an Amazon Rivian delivery van half a mile or so from my house getting pulled onto a ramp truck and was wondering if the Amazon employee or the route planning software they use somehow screwed up so that the van ran out of charge. Either that or it was a real break down. Anyhow, I've heard the Amazon drivers really like that van too.

What I dont like is that you can’t decide how much battery you want before finding a super charger for you. Many times they have pushed the limit a lot, and that does not account for unexpected weather. Had I don’t taking matters into my own hands a few times to make sure I put in a supercharger that says I will arrive at 20% instead of 7% I would have dropped dead because I encountered a snow storm that drained my battery down to 2% on the charger that said 20%. They should add a option where you can decide how much battery you want to have when arriving at your destination, and even on super chargers, so that it chooses the route depending on that and not only the fastest and most effective like it does now. I almost never use the route that they suggest. I always have to manually move around the map to find my own route. Norway.
@LoanwordEggcorn
@LoanwordEggcorn Жыл бұрын
Well they said the planner takes weather, elevation, traffic, temperature into account, but perhaps they need to do a better job with snowstorms. Texas is not Norway, it seems.

@@marcol869 ANY Lithium ion battery pack will last longest if it's kept in a narrower range of charge. Avoid extremes of charge and discharge. That means avoiding 100% (unless before a very long road trip) and definitely avoiding 0%. This is true of any EV or anything that uses Lithium ion batteries.

Last month I took a multi day trip of about 2000 miles and had two issues. One was that, while it would get me to my daily destination, the planner would leave me with ~10% charge -- insufficient to get to the next charger. I would have to plan a route for two days' worth to ensure I could reach a charger the following day. Second, sometimes prevailing traffic speeds are 10mph over the posted speed limit, and the weather is hot so I need to use AC. As a result actual energy use is higher than predicted, leading to ~25 miles less range than planned after several hours. This leads to an unfortunately thin margin when chargers are sparse. One day I had to keep slow in the truck lane with no AC to ensure I could comfortably reach the planned destination. Got there with 15-20 miles left but it was a bit anxiety-provoking. It's a great feature, but could be improved.
