When I “bathe” my cats I use a toothbrush that I don’t use and the toothbrush feels like their mothers tongue so I soak the toothbrush in warm water and gently stroking my cats and they enjoy it bc it feels good to cats especially kittens bc it reminds them of their mother and thinks she is with them. yeah that works wonders and also not having the water running is a good way to alleviate the terror of water, I fill up a large bowl of warm water and dribble on the back with a wash cloth to wet them down. then softly massage in the soap before repeating the water to rinse it off and 'petting' them with the wash cloth.

What I normally do when giving a cat a bath is put a towel on the bottom of the sink. Cats don't like slipping and the towel will fix that. Next thing is you're gonna use both sides of the sink. The first side of the sink is for giving the cat a bath (with the towel). The second side is for holding the water that you will scoop up with a cup to soak/rinse the cat off with. The cat will still complain about the bath ether way, but more then likely won't be as traumatized about it. I've always started out giving any of my cats a bath for the first time this way and haven't had too much trouble other then them meowing a lot.

You are not suppose to bath cats to often, They have natural schampo on the body and if you bath them to much you take that away. Cats clean themselves good enough without human helping them to much, that is why you know that if a cat stop clean themselves something is wrong. Some cats you can have sometimes even if you are allgeric, and its not about if they have long or short fur and that has not to do with given them baths. (ps my sister is allergic and a cousin was so I have experience).

When you put her in the water, hold her by "scruffing" her. That means hold her by the skin or scruff on the back of the neck. That is what a momma cat does when they carry their babies. They instinctively go limp and relax. You guys are so good to get. I had one cat that lived to almost 20

This is a good way of washing your cat, but you also need to make sure to not hold the scruff too tight because theres a lot of nerves and it can cause nerve damage of done too forcefully. Also, make sure to give them a lot of love afterwords so they wont be too resilient to you, or get a fear of water.

They are a very heavy sturdy glass 😉 Washing Bella: Place a small clean bucket of warm water with a hand towel in it next to the sink. Place a small non- breakable bowl with a wash cloth lathered with cat shampooed next to buket. Place a towel in the sink, place Bella in the sink on the towel. Place hand towel from the bucket of water on Bella to get her wet. Next wash Bella with shampooed wash rag. Rinse her with re soaked hand towel or bucket water. Dry her off then fancy feast or treats. Speed and efficiency are the key 👍

Agreed. Anyone who wonders why it's bad should watch the Animal Planet videos from Jackson Galaxy and you'll understand why. Declawing a cat isn't just taking off the nails (which is painful enough. imagine someone pulling all your nails out of their nail beds) but it's more like if someone took off the end of each of your fingers down to the first knuckle. It also leads to issues with the litter box. Those nerve endings are raw so many cats can't walk on litter due to such pain. That means more accidents on your floor. Just trim your cat's nails, give them enough furniture of their own, and it'll be fine. If it's a real issue, they sell those silicone caps you can put over the nails.

@Pate Editz In a way it is. declawing a cat takes away there defense to scratch. Declawing involves removing the first cm of toe on the foot to prevent to nail from regrowing. Imagine taking your own finger and taking off the first part to your knuckle. When the cat ever escapes and needs to defend themselves they truly can't because they don't have nails to defend themselves. Cats are not the type to bite first. Biting shows there head which makes them more vulnerable than scratching. Declawing removes the whole claws which also prevents them from climbing effectively. It's a very painful practice usually done just to take away the ability to scratch things.

Angelina Tan You should probably avoid lecturing people because you don’t know what you’re talking about - getting her nails clipped is just like you clipping your nails. In a couple of weeks/months they’re long and pointy again and you repeat the process. Declawing is completely different - I actually knew that without you explaining it to me.

Advice to bathe a cat: (2 person job usually) fill tub with reasonable amount of water, wear protective gloves (from scratches), and just use a cup to soak cat, then rub soap on cat while the cat is squirming, once you get all the soap on cat (rubbed into fur), use cup to get bath water to rinse cat off. Have a towel ready to dry bathroom, but you have to release the cat in the bathroom so they can try to dry themselves. Help them out with a towel. Then remove the protective gloves. (Advice from a person who owns many cats). Hope this helps in the future. 😊 Also, P.S. a lot of cars won't get used of baths no matter how early you start. You just have to kinda have to do it, get it done. The quicker you bathe them, the quicker the opportunity for them to scratch you will be less. When they meow, just try to push through til they are done cause even though they may hate you for that small amount of time, they will be grateful and forget that you gave them a bath. Small rubber mats with suction cups on the bottom to anchor them securely. I think Rubbermaid makes them. We used a bathtub mat, trimmed in two pieces to size for our asymmetrical sink basins (wash and rinse). I used to groom my cats with a grooming mitt, which was pretty much a glove with soft spikey ridges on the palms which I would just "pet" them with it. It worked well with one of them until they got used to the stroke like a standard brush. The mitt picked up hair pretty well and was good for keeping them calm while brushing their fur.

As a cat owner of 3 years now, my siamese boy loves water, buuuuuuut my Russian blue mix hates it. All cats are indeed different and there's even one breed of domesticated cat who is born to swim in water. Cool. What I do for her is simply get her damp just enough then shampoo her then gently rinse. I use a cup to gently pour the water down her back. She fights and yells but that's part of it. I'd highly recommend clipping Bellatrix's claws beforehand so you don't get as bloodied up.

I tried this on my cat and friend’s cats and it worked every time no trauma: fill the bathtub with water high enough to cover the height of her back so she has to walk only head and a little shoulders showing, no need to hold the cat down or it will scratch you first time or jump off you out of the tub, just put her quickly(not throwing). they start to walk around slowly or some just stand and in a minute you can touch her and wash right in water(soap the water) or next and next time you lower the water so the back is showing you can wash her more easily. P.s.: my cat was a monster against water. she would leave you bloody head to toe, even tried special bath bags, tying her feet together, tying in towels. My cat cried bloody murder first few times but didn’t move and I could wash she didn’t scratch me at all even when tried to hold on to my hand underwater.

Try putting down a mat if you’re going to bathe her in a deep sink or tub. Slippery surfaces can make cats anxious. All you need is a tub full of warm water with some fun toys. The water should be chest high :)

I had a brush similar to the purple one you used. They told me it was to help with shedding. You rub it back and forth quickly and it will pull out all of the loose hair. My dog loved it. She had bad skin so it helped to get all her dandruff off her. She would just kick her lips and kick her leg in delight. She passed away Sept 10th of last year. I love watching your videos to see those precious pups of yours and that sweet kitty. Thank you for sharing. Whenever I get another dog I now have some great ideas of what I can do with them.

I had to bathe a cat that I hadn't trained to it because she got asphalt sealer on herself after getting to of the yard. I drew a sink full of warm water and dipped her in until I could soap her up and the rinse her again. Couldn't let her eat sealer!

Yeah that is right,but licking themselves won't make them clean completely... So we have to bathe them in order to clean them fully as well as to make them get rid of allergies and other stuff just like tmartn said ...
