People are very inconsistent when it comes to Musquin. Was his move on Tomac dirty? yes. Has Tomac done things that are also dirty? yes. Has Anderson? yes. Has Barcia? yes. Have all sorts of other riders that are not hated? yes. Plenty of riders have done things like this and not many people hate them as much as they hate Musquin. I think a big part of it is that hes not American, also because there is a very large group of people that praise Tomac like hes some sort of god who does no wrong. I like Tomac, I also like Musquin, they are both far ahead of many other riders in terms of their ability's and talent. Another inconsistency is when Musquin pulled over for Dungey (I understand why team orders are a thing but in my opinion that looked far worse on Musquin than hiting Tomac did) everyone was saying hes spineless and needed to be more aggressive, which was somewhat true, he did need to become aggressive. Now every time he does anything aggressive he gets shit for it (I mean more than just the incident with Tomac)

I know I’m a couple years late but I saw this live and was just going through some older SX vids and stumbled on this again, so if anyone is willing to listen, here’s my take: Yes, rubbing is part of racing. You have to be aggressive to be successful. However, at least in my mind, there’s some unwritten rules on what constitutes dirty vs non-dirty and it’s largely based on race scenario. If a guy like Tomac starts back in the pack and has to blow by a bunch of slower riders to get to the front, he needs to do whatever he can to make passes. That means if a slower guy is holding him up, by all means go inside and hit him. Generally, if someone is faster than someone else on a given night and it’s obvious but the slower rider is riding a wide bike, I’d say it’s acceptable for the faster rider to be as aggressive as need be. However, in a situation like this, Musquin just takes a cheap shot. Tomac was obviously faster than him this race (like most races) and passed him clean. Marvin didn’t have a legitimate claim to a win in this race. The only way he could get Tomac back was by taking him down, Which I think is lame. When two guys are at the top of their game and a battle ends up in one guy getting taken out, it’s just not cool, especially when the guy on the dirt had the speed to win. That’s just my view
@proapower87134 жыл бұрын
The thing that makes me mad is that everyone treats Tomac like he is Jesus while musquin gets a lot of hate (probably because he's not American imo) Everyone makes dirty passes but when musquin does it he gets so much hate. It sucks getting knocked out like that, but its racing. It happens in this sport. It's all part of what we love about this sport. There will be miscalculations about exactly where you put your front tire or in this case how hard you go into someone. It's not the first time a rider took out another rider. I think Eli kinda kept a cool head about it but cried about it in the press interview.

I just think its funny how Osborne got in trouble for his pass, which was for the championship, and in all honesty wasn't as cheap as that one, yhey just got a little hooked up. I wanted savatgy to win that year but admitted that with Osbornes hard charge and slightly a little over the edge pass was understandable. Musquin is very good, but doesn't get a lot of wins so when he saw that he was getting straight up beat, he threw a tantrum on the track. I still think that some penalty should have been added tho.
@nekulicious6 жыл бұрын
Tomac’s idea really is the best solution, let officials decide what’s right and wrong and deduct championship points not a $5,000 fine. In this case Marv gave tomac no space to brake and caused a crash that coulda caused a dnf or injury, Marc knew there would be heavy contact. It was dirty, and other guys have done dirty moves too but officials should draw lines and define rules and penalties. This really just looked like marv getting frustrated that Eli is just way faster, Eli absolutely turned on the jets and blew by.

I can't believe people are still throwing a huge fit over this. Was it a clean pass? no, do I think it was an intentional move to put Eli on the ground? No, not exactly. At the end of the day, I think it was just a really aggressive pass for a race win. If you look back through Motocross, and Supercross history you'll see plenty of riders doing some pretty sketchy things. But to personally threaten Marvin on his social media? Which was rampant after that race, that's just ridiculous and gives Motocross, and Supercross fans a really bad rap in my opinion. Personally, I'm a fan of both Eli, and Marvin. And I look forward to meeting them both at Springcreek this weekend.

Rewind, In other words a way to perpetuate the controversy of something that happened months ago. The way I see it, Musquin cut the track aiming straight for the front tire. Now I also feel that there was not only a lot of pressure on him to make this move in terms of leading the race for so many laps, but that same message would have been echoed at the team trailer. Could have been entitlement, could have been the level of pressure, could have been simply him wrongly executing what he had in mind while still making it work, either way in my eyes the loss of respect wasn't worth the win. As far as Tomac and Webb is concerned, the counter argument to that is that Webb did cross into Tomac's line in an extremely dangerous part of the track (could have been wrapped around a metal pole). Now you can keep making arguments back an forth looking back in history as far as you want, but I don't consider either of the two riders dirty. Musquin so far has learned his lesson, although the controversy is usually a matter of which rider a person likes more. Yup, I just accused this video of trying to perpetuate the controversy of months old event only to feed into it myself. Was it by design, or was it the simple nature of wanting to share my thoughts to people who don't give two shit? We may never know.

On the other hand he is fast and skilled and the many GPs I saw him at in Europe never failed to be one of the fastest out there. Only trouble is his ability to piss people off seems to have now even got to his own countries Motorcycle federation with them now not picking there fastest rider for the 2018 MXDN. I suspect the person he is within motocross and his ability to rub many up the wrong way has a lot to do with it.

If you want to be specific and say "it's because he's French," well then what can you say about Sebastian Tortelli, David Vuillemin, and Stephan Roncada? I purposely left out Jean-Michel Bayle because he was a douche bag. Additionally; I can list a handful of American riders that get just as much hate as Musquin. It has nothing to do with country of Origin. For me specifically, it's about his attitude. The guy comes out in glowing gear for the season opener of supercross, and he's not even the champion. And every time something doesn't go his way, he's full of excuses and blame. But when things do go his way, all he can talk about is how awesome he rode and how great he feels. Nothing about his team, his bike, his training cadre, etc.

@@hannahmckee5592 What about cross jumping Anderson and Roczen in Arlington last week? And T bone on Bagget in Atlanta yesterday ?
@hannahmckee55924 жыл бұрын
Enzo Gau-Rinaldi He never cross-jumped either one of them. Roczen had zero complaints about Eli’s passes. Nor did Anderson, and both guys are vocal enough to say something if they thought Eli had done something like that. Eli came in on Roczen’s line on the face of the triple and probably didn’t even realize it. He’d been hitting all of those jumps the same way all night. Not to mention that’s not what cross-jumping is. Even my husband who reacted to it at first rewatched it and admitted that it wasn’t cross-jumping. Tomac and Roczen Race each other with respect, and they both have said so. Roczen had zero complaints about Eli after Arlington. And he did not T-bone Baggett. You need to watch that again. I’m not even sure you know what a T-bone really is if you think that was a T-bone. The move on Baggett was definitely a mistake on Eli’s part, and he openly admitted it. It was his fault and he said so. Go check his Instagram. He wasn’t going for a takeout on Baggett whatsoever. He was anticipating Baggett railing the berm but but Baggett cut down inside and by then Eli was already committed. It was an accident brought on by a rushed decision on Eli’s part. That’s it.
@Enzo26GR4 жыл бұрын
Hannah McKee Well I actually agree, I believe those questionable moves are bound to happen in this sport. But I think that there is a lot of hypocrisy when it comes to analysing it, and at the end of the day, the most liked rider gets clemensy or absolution whereas the less popular gets ton of shit for the same. I just wanted to point out it's unfair calling MM dirty if people let Tomac do the same moves. DF too said his move was a mistake and apologized, yet he recieved an unbelievable amount of hate. I'm french obviously and Iately I've been having a bit of trouble discerning nationalism from xenophobia in the -sometimes- hysteric behaviour of US fans.
@hannahmckee55924 жыл бұрын
Enzo Gau-Rinaldi I’m not a MM25 fan in the slightest but I agree that he’s not a dirty rider whatsoever. What happened between him and Tomac in 2018 was bad on Marvin’s part but I found it more upsetting that he couldn’t own up to it. Either say you went for the takeout to get the win or that you made a bad call that planned out badly (the likely scenario). Marvin wouldn’t give a straight answer and at first even tried to blame the collision on Tomac saying he wasn’t in the rut, which was bs. Having said that, Marvin is not a dirty rider at all and the abuse he received from fans all the way through outdoors was ridiculous. Sometimes fans are ridiculous. As for DF, that was obviously another bad call on Dylan’s part but like you said he did own up to his mistake pretty quickly and has long since apologized to Craig. The boos he’s still getting are just stupid. The hypocrisy of people calling him dirty for every pass he’s made since then is laughable. His passes have been clean racing passes since that incident, even Forkner has said so. I like Ferrandis and I hope he takes the West title again. I agree with you about some American fans. The nationalism is far more rampant than I ever would have thought and as an American I find it disgusting and, quite frankly, embarrassing. Trust me when I say not all of us are like that, I wouldn’t even say the majority. It’s just that the stupidest tend to be the loudest.

And this whole "it was for the win" is hilarious -- when you T-bone someone like that, you could make an argument that it's always "for the win" because you've essentially eliminated them from a chance a winning. The AMA used to penalize this type of riding, but I guess those days are gone.

and that's why so many people hate new Marvin?. He's not a clean rider. You look at all the passes from the 2017 season. When Tomac passed Dungey, every single black class was clean, every single one Maga is not a dirty rider, he just comes in and takes them out. That is the dirtiest block passes i've seen.

Block passing happens. It is part of the sport. Eli does it very often. In this case that was a dirty ass collision. Marvin used Eli and his bike as a brake. Used him like bowling bumpers.

I don't like the guys who is angry on musquin They don't know he is the first french rider to win supercross since 2002

I’m huge Tomac fan,but honestly.....I don’t think Musquin did this pass on purpose.Looks like he was expecting Eli to go one or two lines more wide and when he didn’t,wasn’t enough space to get it clean right there

This just goes to show that nobody can pass Tomac without totally runing into him.

If you boo-ed Marvin for making that pass just stop watching dude this sport ain't for you
@moochiezpitt4 жыл бұрын
That wasn't a pass. He deliberately slammed into him. It was dirty and doesn't belong in racing. But if that's the only way you can win and they let you, go for it. Dirtbag. 👍 Btw, imagine everyone riding like that, people would start fighting all the time. If they didn't get injured.

the only thing i don´t like about marv is the race fix in 2017 and sure eli did it in the monster cup but that is not for a championship

If you think about Tomac is super aggressive on a weekly bases, if he needs to pass someone he puts in the block pass even if he doesn't need to. So it was a dirty pass but Tomac deserved it
